    Project genesis

    Hey guys
after the disaster with the saga iv decided to rebuild the genesis using all the hardware, running gear etc an planting it into the genesis.
I was planning something else for this hull, but it all gone pete tong LOL
Iv reinforced the hull with CF,and sanded it all back to gelcoat and giving it a new paint job, nice and simple clean look.
Also thinking about offsetting the rudder so will have to order a new,iv just ordered new stuffing tube, through the hull water inlet and water outlet.
set up will be,for those who dont know LOL

Got a bit more done,iv managed to sort out the offset rudder by removing the tab where it fastens to the original strut set up
the strut is also offset by 4mm aswell to reduce prop torque, drilled 2 holes for the bolts, but iv also cut a piece of 3mm alloy and managed to get it inside on the transom and added some cf strands and resin mixed, bolted it up and is solid, also removed 1 of the wings of the rudder its self for a cleaner look, mount the strut, antenna and water outlet,im just waiting for new stuffing tube and cooling inlet, ill install the servo mount next and bellow,at least that will be the steering all sorted and make an CF RX and ESC mounts

Looks really good man! Just starting to get into boats and taking on the huge task of building my own CAT! Is the purpose of an offset rudder to grab more "clean" waterand better tracking?

Hey bud,the reason im doing it on this build is normally inline with the strut but its ltd my prop size so by having the offset rudder im not hampered now,as for how its going to handle couldnt say,but it should be better so will see.
also welcome to the forum & boating, let the addiction start LOL

Got some more done,i found a piece of stuffing tube in my forgotten box of bits LOL so used that, also got the steering setup sorted and just placed the motor etc in aswell to check for line up,iv put a 47mmCF prop to check clearances from rudder plenty of room,so now i wont be ltd to prop size.

Looking great! And thanks for the welcome! Getting into boats is a whole new world of rc, lotta variables i didnt forsee! Also, ive heard the term surface prop used a lot, could you shed some light on that?

Also, the carbon fiber inside looks real nice, but is it a overkill?

Surface drive props are designed that only half the prop is in the water once it reaches rpm, usually hull/boats using are literally skimming the water so theres hardly any hull in water, less drag more speed.
CF overkill, defo not it makes a big difference in the strength of the hull and when youve ran a couple of fibreglass hulls youll see why when you start wanting to up the power/speed you need to get more strength in the hull.the faster the boat the harder it hits the water if it should flip/crash
Theres alot to learn LOL,youll have fun and alot of help around if you ask.

As always great work Daz,, and the rudder deal looks good but how thin its is at the base worries me i hope it dont crack the hull,,and that white paint looks flawless howed you get it so glassy,,i see no bubbles or runs or anything just glass.

Hey jerry,iv managed to reinforce around the area with cf also theres an aluminium plate on the inside shaped to the hull and epoxied in,wasnt easy but managed it LOL,it should be pretty strong and work well
The paint work is just take your time while painting, also priming and marker coat wetflatted till theres no black marks left makes a big difference in the finish

Got abit more done, now epoxied in the servo mount and stuffing tube,so while that setting i sprayed the screen on the hatch and cut some more vinyl and this is how it looks so far
