Hey guys, I'm new here and a decade back in boat tech.....just fyi. (and yes i know menage a trois is the correct spelling)
It seems this is the place for next level fast electric stuff and I want to say this site has already been a hugely invaluable resource for me- so thanks. First of all, this project is about trying to do something a little different, so please excuse me if it seems I am on peyote. I will try to update this thread along the way for anyone who is interested, and also I welcome any and all feedback and suggestions- positive or negative. I do ask that if you do have something to say regarding tech- an accompanying explanation of why would be great! If you have any questions, please ask!
Minus the huge blanks, as of now, the plans are roughly this:
Things I have bought:
- 37" HK Genesis hull
- Traxxas Velineon 36mm inrunner 3500kv .125" shaft motors x3
- Traxxas VXL-3s 200/320A esc x3 (running 3s3p through each)
- Turnigy nano-tech 3300mah 40-90c x9
Things that need TBD and bought:
- Surface drives/ Stingers (3/16 prop) x2- TBD
- Center strut w/ skeg (3/16 prop) x1- TBD
- Motor mounts- TBD (likely custom)
- Rudders x2 - TBD
- Props, 50mm, pitch and blade count TB
Other modifications planed:
- Hull reinforcement and likely addition of internal ribs
So to kick it off:
I need stingers (surface drives). Below are dimensions of the rear section of the hull. My first choice for drives would be these if I can get em longer (since I believe- and correct me if im wrong- I will need approx 140mm from transom support to prop hub) (http://www.mhzusa.com/Scale-Drive-fo...m-m-1674-A.htm), but I have tried getting into contact with MHZ multiple times via phone and e-mail with no response.
The real questions is this. How much- if any- distance difference can exist between say the leading edge of the center prop vs. the 2 outers?
