After a disappointing experience with my Seaducer, I needed to do another P-Mono quickly as we are are already at mid point in the district 12 race series. The Ricos are excellant boats but I wanted to do something a little different. I have been so impressed with my Insane FE-30 that I decided to try the Insane 34 mono. I ordered it a few weeks ago and recieved it last Friday. The build quality is truely top notch. Great gelcoat and a very strong layup.
I did the entire build in 3 1/2 days including installing rails. I took some 3/16 birtch ply, cut them to size and brushed them down with a penetrating epoxy sealer. I glued them down in place with a standard 30 minute epoxy. To make sure they never come loose, I ran a bead of Locktite Hysol outboard of the rails and glassed in some 1.5" fiberglass tape on the inboard sides. If these rails come out, they are taking a chunk of the hull with them. I used a WRP rail strap mount for South River RC to make changing the motor a snap. Unfortunately I couldnt mount the motor as low as I wanted to with this mount so I had to move the motor a bit farther foward then I would of liked. With the batteries all the way back, I'm still at 29% on the COG.
Hanging off the transom is a Seaducer strut and rudder, Speedmaster trim tabs and OSE large Turn fins. As you can see I did a flood chamber for the stuffing tube to allow more strut tuning. Motor is a Neu 1521 1.5D and controller is the Castle 240LV. For props I'll start out with 447/2 and 447/3. She'll hit the water for the first time on Friday at test'n tune for my clubs district race this weekend.
