Shockwave 36 brushless conversion

Well this is my first project boat, and after reading the forums I decided to put the r/c cars away and build a brushless boat as the lake is right outside my door.

I would like to call this a budget build, use what I have laying around. Since I already have a bunch of 2s packs, I figured I would put a plan together to run on 4s.

Grabbing a motor from a converted 1/8 scale buggy, I used a Tacon 4074 2000kv motor set up with a Leopard cooling can and a Fighter Cat 40mm motor mount, and a Suppo 200 amp ESC (Thanks Ben the items arrived super fast).

I have used the stock drive and rudder with the help from some OSE driveline parts, a 5mm to .187 collet.

At this point the motor mount is in and same with the electronics, I decided to keep the stringers in the boat just in case we wanted to go back to nitro power at some point. At this pint I'll let the pics do the talking.

are you going to fill the air intake holes with something removable like hot glue so it stays dry?

I'm gonna leave the front ones open, as all the electronics fit in the radio box, I need to seal up the fake exhaust and the nitro exhaust, I'm just gonna use some styrene and silicone to button those up.

Where in illinois are you from?

I'm in Palatine, about 20 mins from the city. In or condo building we have a private pond where its big enough for gas boats, and right down the street, we have twin lakes, which is a good size recreation area, neither of them have complained about gas or nitro before, so it works out great for boating.

Just came across it and wanted it.

Do you still have the nitro engine that was in it?

I don't have a video camera, so no video unfortunately. I was shocked with the 4074 that it is actually enough to push this thing too I would say 36 to 38 mph, using a graupner 42 mm carbon prop to test. the kv of the motor was high so 4s is the most I have gone. If i had a t180 esc I think 6s and a kv of around 1400 would just rock and would have much lower amp draw. but with this built I just used what I had laying around to put it together. So for around 100 in parts I think it was very successful.
