Some more details

Well, I liked the motor, but it wasn't quite detailed enough, soI made a few more details today still using aluminum from soda cans. I would like to say I'm done, but I seem to keep getting ideas...

Well, first the intake did not have the butterflies.


Yes, the butterflies are open! Also I realized i put the oil cap where the pressure relief vent goes, so I fixed that also.


Well a motor can't run without a distributor and plug wires.


You can see here, I wanted the wires to stay in the proper place so I also added a bracket on the wires to keep them in line.yes, they are actually wires and they were a pain plugging them all in then. Hope there in the right order!



And last, you need to check your oil level, and be able to fill it up if needed...


Like, I said I'd like to call it done, but we will see what comes next.

Transom was looking pretty plain so I decided it needed some paint, and came up with a name!

Got some more ideas., First was a dash with gauges and steering wheel. The steering wheel is the shoulder from a plastic hanger, the dash and gauges are again soda can aluminum.



The drivers needed their 4 point harnesses so they wouldn't fall out in a rollover.


And last the butterfly on intake wouldn't open without linkage, and the supercharger might have cracked without it reinforcing machined stiffeners!


So here is where it stands... Beginning to look like a real sprint boat!



Going to a lake tomorrow, hopefully I can get a good video without porpoising and some sweet scale looking photos!

Thank you very much! I don't have a big R/C budget to work with, so I did what I could. I also love the scale look, and you cannot do it buying parts. There's only only so many parts you can buy without losing the scale appearance. The rest you have to make to fit your project. The lighter the better, and theres no lighter material than the free stuff we throw out every day. I don't think it would hold up to a 60 mph crash, so may not be a race boat. For a fun boat, it rocks though. Scale looks, a decent performance, and the fun of building instead of assembling! What more could you ask for! Fun and thinking from start to finish. If I raced, you better believe after every crash I would have a new soda can motor! lol.

The rear was still too plain for me. I added a checked flag pattern on the black.



Also added a nozzle guard and trim plate. Maybe it'll help with porpoising until I get a smaller brushless 380 and lighter more power lipo's and can adjust my weight around more. I Looks alot better now. Tomorrow providing the weathers good I can try it out. Thunderstorms forecast though.

Here's todays run... weather will be nice all week and on the weekends the wind comes out. Waves were white capping, and this was in the small part of the lake like a little harbor for the boat ramp. You should have seen the rest of it! lol
