Peter, I had to shave about 1/8" off the mounts to lower the plate to allow the cap board on top to clear the hatch. All in a day's work Had to shorten the plate mounting screws to keep them from bottoming out. Mount was just fine

Thanks, Sir ! I find that if you take your time & build them strong, they'll stay that way. Got mine wet for the first time yesterday and she hauls a^^ A little tweaking and she''l be perfect & I'll post a vid.

Give Jeff a call at 310-351-0744 - tell him I sent 'ya so I can get some brownie points, and he'll hook you up.

Be glad to share the setup info once I document the sweet spot

That is one of the sexiest looking monos I've ever seen! Great work!
I've always mounted my turn fins on the lower portion of the hull, but I like how yours are mounted higher. It looks stout. Do you always mount them that way or did you do it for a specific reason?

Thanks, Keith. The boat does look fast just standing still !

I've found that with the latest P-Monos, given modern power, weight & speed, big turn fins are needed to keep a 9+ pound boat planted around the buoys. As far as mounting location is concerned, I use a very scientific method to position them known as the " inter-ocular trauma technique " - I just stare at the transom, and when the right spot hits me between the eyes, I grab the drill

Thanks, Jeff. I'll tell 'Ya, if I wasn't so tapped out from all my latest projects and races, I'd have you do a wrap for me - It's been in my head for a while now - How does "Margaritaville" sound ? Palm trees, a parrot & such in Miami-style pastels ? ( Go to the Margaritaville site & check it out !)

                              Tony,
I am very interested in getting one of these hulls for my C/C 1717. I typically like the motor at the rear with the batteries in front/center like your layout.

Do you think that 6S2P with that layout will work in this hull? Did you find the sweet COG yet?

I have a CC 1717 With Zicha mount and a Hydra ICE 240 looking for a good home. What do you think?

                                Chummer,

You're on the way to a sweet build - The 1580 KV 1717 0n 6S will rock (@35 K rpm) - go easy on the prop to start out with.

My cg is around 29% and works for me. Mark's is further forward, but he's run his at Q Mono SAW speeds and is rock solid at 80 mph.

The CG is just one part of the equation which also involves strut angle & depth, tab location and adjustment and so on. Each boat needs test/tuning to get it where you want it. It only took me a few runs to find the right groove for mine - the quickest I've ever experienced setting up a mono for sure !
I do like rear motor builds; allows cg adjustment just by moving batteries and keeps weight close to the centerline which I find minimizes chine walk.
