    Aeromarine Cyclone Cat Build

I picked up a 45" Aeromarine Cyclone from one of our fellow members on this forum. My plans are to race in in my club this season in open Offshore. I have both the Big Leopard 1096kv for her on 8s2p 45c Hyperions. Or I will put my Neu 2230 1y in her on 10s2p.

Lets see how it goes. Any positive comments along the way are welcome. Here are the 1st shots as I received her.

The Cyclone is a pretty good hull, it has more lift than other Aeromarine cats so it may work better for a heavier FE setup. CG and strut type (skegged) appear to be critical, so make the CG adjustable. It is a big hull so it can be quite a canvas for paint.....

          Guys,

Thank you for the input. And yes the hatch should hold tight as you have said. And Fluid, I will make that CG adjustable. And as far as the paint goes, my graphics guy has promised me his best. I will post some pictures as soon as I get the hull back. He says this week. But I have heard that before. As they say, all good things are worth waiting for.

              Jesse J,

I could not have started the project without having worked with you on the purchase. You made a good decision, and put it in the right hands. With some of the experience that I have, and alot of the wonderful input that I get from other forum members. This should turn out to be one heck of a Cat.

Well after almost six weeks of waiting, I got the Hull back with the graphics work.
I hope all of you think that he did a good job as well.
The next phase of course will be the internals. I will post more as I progress.

                Thanks for looking!

Wow, that's a sweet lookin' cat, too pretty for a race boat. Did you decide on what powerplant you are going to use?

Thanks for the accolades. As far as the power plant. I have everything here waiting to go in. I am trying a Leopard 5692 1090kv motor for the 1st time. Pushing that will be 4 brand new Hyperion EX G3 4S 45C 5000 mah packs, that I got from Mr Vaccaro. I am going to mate it to a Castle HV 240, fresh out of the box, but have added the big ETTI cap bank set that I picked up from Jim Williams from South River R/C, as is the motor mount.

If it does not fly on this setup, 8s2p, then I will put in my Neu 2230 1y and the 10s2p 10,000 mah packs that I still have.

Hopefully as Fluid has said, this boat is easier to get plane and run light on the water. Therefore I hope I don't need the bigger power.

For those of you interested, this is what I got done today. No doubt many more hours of work ahead. FYI I drilled out the center of the rudder support to accept that mushroom shaped rudder rod bellows. Once the bellows is in place, then bolted to the transom, the back of it acts like a gasket, for a water tight seal.

Any suggestions, don't hesitate to share with me your input. The old adage measure twice cut once.

Well, that's it for today. Measured and assembled the hughey flex shaft, prop, and thust bearing. Mounted a really nice OSE aluminum servo mount, with a Futaba S9252digital, coreless motor, servo, with an aluminun horn. Also welded a Dubro horn clevis for zero clearance rudder control.

                          Until next time.
