I try not to worry too much about cog. There is plenty of room for adjustment with the batteries in the sponsons. I'm at about 25% right now.

I was thinking the same thing

My motor is mounted a little farther ahead with 1 4S on each side of the motor

I just checked my boat and I have put a magic marker line on the edge of the cowl opening at 9" from the back of the boat This is where my CG is and then I move the lipos ahead or back a little depending on the water of the day

There is a pic of a Chris Fine build some where on here you need to check where he place his CG this is what I considered when I started my build !!!

Thats too far forward. And that hull originally had a 540 can, not a castle 1520. It was never run with that motor.

From everything I've seen and read on the MM you're gonna want to move those batteries farther forward. I placed me esc and batteries further forward than yours. I believe the mark is half way between the last step and second to last step. Looks good so far though, like the red carbon Kevlar

Got a great first run in this morning. This thing turns on a dime! Not a drop of water inside either. Got another chance to run this afternoon. Running real nice, had a spectacular blowover with a twist! Turns out my battery straps weren't tight enough and the batteries slid all the way to the back. YIKES!! I couldn't reach the boat with my fishing pole so I had to wait til it floated across to the other side of the pond. floated upside down for about 45 minutes. When I finally got to her she was as dry as a bone inside. Gonna run again tomorrow with my 2s 40c packs and the x-642.

I don't think I went any further forward than 26-27% on mine and it ran great

I pushed the batteries forward to about 30% on my first run and you could definitely tell it was nose heavy. Could have been the prop I was using had a lot of lift too. I still have to get this thing dialed in before I run it with my 5s packs.
