Just back from the local pond the boat ran great. I was running a X440 and did three test. I think a 442 prop will be a fun ride with good run time. The 440 went about 40MPH but the pond is too small to run the faster props. Plus it was getting cold later in the day. I brought the Video recorder but my partner Dai Kim wanted to watch. Sorry It was a fun boat and the setup looked just a little wet. That will change depending on the water. Time to clean up the boat. It did have a little water coming in from the bottom of the hull it needs to be found a crack or seam is leaking.

Hey - Nice work! I see there's another "mad scientist" out there similar to myself.
I built a Prather LapCat series 1 out of Kevlar/cross grain balsa ultra-light over 20 years ago.
        A K&B .67 11cc on the back powered it.
I engineered a power trim bell-crank system using a JR Propo Jumbo servo for real-time trimming.
Hit 84 MPH + then put it in a box figuring one day I will have a son to share it with.
Rebuilt it and managed to source a new carby from New Zealand (the old one rattled itself to oblivion).

My son launched it bum-first on it's third run - destroyed the conrod, servo etc. etc.
Too hard to get original Ka & Boom parts these days here in Australia.
It now sports a Neu-Castle 1518 1Y, 6S LiPo pak, Seaking 180A ESC with BEC and a HiTEk trim servo with 3 bearings & steel gears - 26Kg.
Yes, I went electric after watching a friend doing unbelievable stunts with his electric heli!
The old Octura X440 doesn't do the available torque justice so I have ordered an X445 and an X450 to play with.
Having a hard time keeping it on the water but hey - nothing exceeds like excess!
Next stop - transfer the whole drive train into something a little more modern - any ideas where I can source a state-of-the-art F1 hull?
        Cheers all - Jason.

            Hey thanks Randy.
Been 20 years in the making.
Now that I've discovered the joys of electro-boogie, I destroyed my steering servos yesterday during a twilight run at a nearby lake.
It's a lot of fun casting a grappling hook with a fishing rod into the dark and waiting to hear a "clunk".
Got it all back in one piece.
The old JR Propo NESS 4011's are getting an upgrade tomorrow, as did the JR 10Kg Jumbo servo power trim unit to a HiTek 26Kg with 3 bearings and steel gears.
I run the steering servos in tandem for true push-pull steering.
When I hit the juice from stop the whole boat leaps 10 feet before gaining aqua-traction!
I have my radio gear setup for a 10% reverse off the trigger - so nice to motor out from shore then nail it!
Nitro could only dream of doing that!
            Nice Miss Bud!
A friend of mine has a supercharged Rolls Royce V12 Merlin (ex-RAAF/Spitfire I think) sitting in his garage - 3000+ horses and it's a paperweight!
I live 10 minutes from the home of the Australian National Drag Boat Club's liquid 1/4 mile.
Also spent 20 years waterski racing with my bros in various floating weapons from Big Block Chev 8 Litre to outboards.
Do a Google on the "Southern 80".
It's only natural to "scale" things down a tad at my age - NOT!
