It has been raining pretty heavy today, so I have spent some hours in the workshop. I started to modify the OB hood, and that is quit a lot of work since I would like this to be as nice as possible. Lot of epoxy work... I really hate that kind of work!!!
However, I think it will be ok when I`m done. Need to raise the hood almost an inch since there gonna live a 2230 in there.
I would highly consider redoing the sponsons on that hull. The Ossi tunnel, in gas form, has a hard time getting itself moving due to the fact that the sponsons get shallower and shallower as it goes from front to rear causing the hull to always try and go uphill on the water. We have some guys in our local club with that same boat and they completely redid the bottom side of the boat to overcome that problem, and to get it to turn correctly around an oval course. It is not a necessity, but it sure helped make the boat faster! Figured I would share that since I know they put a lot of time into their Ossi's. Other than that, this is a pretty kick azz project! Can wait to see more! Mike
@BoBo, at first I was considering a 91RS on the outboard, but as the matter of facts I enjoy electric a lot and wanted an electric tunnel instead.
Outboard on offshoreboats will not give very high performance, and the steering is not verey accurate compared to a fixed propshaft and transommounted rudder.
And besides that this is an 1100 euro outdrive, you know what that means considering my number of boats....
@Steven, yes I have allready thought about it, but I`m not so satisfied with this hull, so I`m waiting for my next tunnel to make a powerlift, actually it is very easy to make. If I get the needed time I will build a new design from scratch.
@cybercrxt, Yes I know, that was the first I saw when I received the boat long time ago. I`m gonna launch the boat like it is so I can see by my self how bad it really is.
Probably the sponsons will be totally rebuild because there are several things I don`t like.
Good, I am glad you already noticed that! I would have hated you to put all that work in, and if someone knew something to help the hull and not tell, that would suck! Best of Luck with the build!!! Mike
If you ever do get tired of that hull, I make a 49" Wood over foam tunnel that has been doing really well at the races....Im sure it would be awesome as FE..you got my wheels spinning!
