I know using the stock turnfin with my boat it would not turn left . Even the slightest left would flip hull. Ul-1 style fin had no problem.

I bet if you spread the sponsons a little wider and put a little more AOA on the sponson bottoms it may make a verygood racer.

When I ran the boat the CofG was dead on at 13 1/4". The trailing edge of the fin was just about even with the CofG and the strut was set to the depth of the trailing edge of the sponsons with about 2 degrees of neg. There was some wind blowing when I ran it and showed very little tendency to blow over on the front and back stretch. Left turn corrections seemed to be no problem and I had the boat held at full throttle the whole time. The Lipos did get pretty warm after the run though (my Hyperion charger read 13% left on both 2s packs... ) They seemed fine but I have ordered a new set of Hyperion 2S 35C 5000's so I will have a second set for the races. The 4S Hyperion pack that I used in my JAE seemed much cooler after it's run...i'm sold! Just need to remember to keep the runs much shorter...

How do you like the fixed strut on the jae 21?
Thats what i used on mine... i like it.
I noticed that you used a piece of wire instead of screws on your sponsin booms. Are you worried that they might split or get sloppy due to fatigue?

            Steve.

I like Jim's strut just fine...he does nice work!

I used the wire per recommendations from Taylor (the rigger designer) ...with the 1/16" holes drilled in the sponsons it keeps the fiberglass booms much stronger where it needs it...plus I can simply pull the pins out to adjust the sponsons and pop them back in...no tools needed! Does not hurt a thing... Thanks Steve!

No sir, I am caught up with the family and work right now. After my baby girl gets around 3yrs old. I will be joining a club and will get into the race scene. I will be going to the VooDoo Fastest Boat in The World Race this November. This will be my first really big race that I have been to. It'll be in Reserve,LA November 19, 20, 21. They will have contestants from all over the world. All classes too. Electric, Gas, and Nitro. They have put a 300 contestant cap and man you should see the roster. Sorry for rambling on but can you tell I'm excited!!!

BTW....Nice going on the sponson width mod. But if you make them both the same width and add some G10 or CF ridepads she really wakes up. Just my .02

I spoke to Taylor Shaw (eyekandyboats) I told him about this thread and he said it will be some time before he can get to a PC. He'said to tell you that He's very pleased with your satisfaction and very thankful for your opinion on the Rigged Insanity.
