    Rigged Insanity...

Well, after about a year and a half of building this (took a break in between to build my JAE FE) it is done! Just ran her for the first time yesterday at the Delmarva Club's pond (Queenstown, MD) and this rigger turned out very nice!! Fast and turns VERY well!

After I ran the Insanity, I ran my JAE FE and I think, and this might sound crazy but, the Insanity was the better of the two!! Very good performance and very predictable in the turns!

BTW...both riggers were using the UL-1 setups, both were running the same Sholund H-7 props and 5000 packs...same everything, just different boats.

    Here's some pics...

I went a slightly different direction when putting the sponsons together...instead of the recommended 4" spacing between the tub and inside sponsons, I went with 4" spacing on the right side and 4 3/4" on the left giving it an offset hoping it would take turn with less difficulty...and it do!!

Also strayed from using the stock or UL-1 fin and went with a Sundowner fin that Mike Hughes made for me. In my opinion, the stock and UL-1 recommended fins put me nowhere near the CofG mark...the Hughes fin was perfect (trailing edge barely just in front of the CofG)...very strong and sharp as a knife!!

Look at all that room in the tub!!! You need to build a twin Kent.

Cant wait to see it in Chesapeake! We'll see if she can handle race water.

That looks very nice. What paint did you use? Good choice on the fin BTW.

I like it too...it has the traditional rigger look to it. I also like the JAE because it has a sleeker, modern look to it...just two different animals.

                            Thanks B-55!

Thanks Keith! I used sanding sealer first (2 coats), then Kilz and then basically two coats of rustoleum high gloss...LOL! The combo seems to hold up well so far. No pull off from the tape!! The turn fin was something I had thought about for a while. I just did not like where the stocker or UL-1 sat...too far forward. This boat runs and reminds me very much of my Prather Spitfire...turns on rails. To each his own but this fits my driving style.

BTW...thanks for all of your help throughout my build!
