jeeze no one ever comments! Maybe there will be more once it goes 70?Fleet: 55" Quad inline T600 Cigarette boat, Twin Mean Machine, Twin T600 47" mystery mono, 4082 Surge Crusher, 1717 8s Genesis, 4074 Villain, "mini mono", 52" Bonzi, Prather Funcruiser, 2 DPI 3.5cc tunnels, 5' Styrofoam recover bargeComment

lol It got a comment! hahaha but that was on 3300mah cells that wound up failing. And that was one lower powered motor just to test out the drive. I think i got that part right. It is deff faster than my surge crusher. The hull is pretty big so it looks kinda slow in the vid.Fleet: 55" Quad inline T600 Cigarette boat, Twin Mean Machine, Twin T600 47" mystery mono, 4082 Surge Crusher, 1717 8s Genesis, 4074 Villain, "mini mono", 52" Bonzi, Prather Funcruiser, 2 DPI 3.5cc tunnels, 5' Styrofoam recover bargeComment

They probably failed because of the low mah and the huge amp draw you just put them through.
Nimh batteries dont have very high amp draw specs.
You can cook them easily in a boat, especially one of that size.Z

Oh they were 30c lipos. It slowed down a lot as the vid went on. (batts) I didn't think it would pull more that 80amps but i was wrong!
I am gonna have the same batts in 8s3p and aim for 95 amps from each motor. I could tell from the low pitch sound it was waaaaay over proped. I am not gonna run it again untill i get the motors. Should be right under 6kw when all tuned.Fleet: 55" Quad inline T600 Cigarette boat, Twin Mean Machine, Twin T600 47" mystery mono, 4082 Surge Crusher, 1717 8s Genesis, 4074 Villain, "mini mono", 52" Bonzi, Prather Funcruiser, 2 DPI 3.5cc tunnels, 5' Styrofoam recover bargeComment

Oh, i thought you were using 3300 mah nimh packs.
Probably the reason for the dead lipos though as well..
That boat is 47"s long and it looked like 43"s of it were in the water the whole video.
Thats a big boat, its going to need alot of power to move it.
And if you dont have the power, then its going to get costly.
Its going to get costly to get the power. LOL
I think you would be better off with A 33" hullZ

How does a smidge under 8hp sound?Fleet: 55" Quad inline T600 Cigarette boat, Twin Mean Machine, Twin T600 47" mystery mono, 4082 Surge Crusher, 1717 8s Genesis, 4074 Villain, "mini mono", 52" Bonzi, Prather Funcruiser, 2 DPI 3.5cc tunnels, 5' Styrofoam recover bargeComment

Exactly what i thought! I think doby's rio 51 is around the same power level and has gone over 60mph at 18.5 pounds.
I am curently ordering all the parts for a dual mean machine that should get to 4.5-5kw depending on where my amp draw ends up.Fleet: 55" Quad inline T600 Cigarette boat, Twin Mean Machine, Twin T600 47" mystery mono, 4082 Surge Crusher, 1717 8s Genesis, 4074 Villain, "mini mono", 52" Bonzi, Prather Funcruiser, 2 DPI 3.5cc tunnels, 5' Styrofoam recover bargeComment

Good stuff. Those gears sound a little tight have you lashed them?It runs good though . It will be interesting to see when you goto the two motor set up . Get you some seaking 180s or ive had good luck with elf hobby 100amp 30 volt esc on ebay only paid 30 bucks the little thing has held up.The turnigy has done me well too.Comment

I still have the 100amp hv escs for the big boat luckily it was just the batt that fried! I almost cried tears of joy when that thing initialized with the different batts!
For the mean machine i was thinking twin 200amp cheepo escs without bec that are pretty much the same as the 100amp ones you were talking about with more mosfets and only 10 bucks more and hopefully last a lil longer.
I used a couple sheets of computer paper between the gears and pushed the gears together as much as i could, tightened them and took out the paper. There is a little play in the mesh when it is sitting and it turns pretty smooth. I think the hull amplifies the sound in that big flat front top part of the hull, if it doesn't work out as a boat i could use it as a big drum!Fleet: 55" Quad inline T600 Cigarette boat, Twin Mean Machine, Twin T600 47" mystery mono, 4082 Surge Crusher, 1717 8s Genesis, 4074 Villain, "mini mono", 52" Bonzi, Prather Funcruiser, 2 DPI 3.5cc tunnels, 5' Styrofoam recover bargeComment

I'd recheck the mesh, I never ever rely on that paper through the gears thing, its no where near good enough to properly set up gears. Use your hands and turn the gears a tiny bit at a time stopping and checking for a tiny bit of play at each section of the gears, when you go completely around the gears, do it once more just to be sure. I learned to set up gear mesh over 20 years ago, while racing onroad pan gears running tiny 64 pitch gears, if it wasn't meshed right you'd loose the spur gear pretty quick.
Good luck
