Watching and waiting. Good thinking on the reduced shaft angle. I use the Hyperformance angle drive just for that reason & have had great luck with shaft longevity.

Thank you,iv got an old dolphin outboard and that runs a quite a tight 90*angle and was playing round with that and the difference between turning it with your fingers as is and then reducing the angle was alot smoother and easier to turn,so by doing this is less strain on the motor and the flexi and less wear

Wow, you Brits move quickly. I love it. My only concern would be the distance from the steering pivot point to the prop. Is this significantly longer than most outboard conversions? This will add torque to the steering servo and may make the boat a bit unstable. If you could move the pivot further back to the prop, it may reduce this significantly. I'm not sure if I am clear, but I am optimistic for you and wish you the best of luck.

dont want to hijack your thread but i am also working on a new type of outboard
its an L.C.G. mount meaning low center of gravity and also will have a small bend angle. I designed it, drew the 3d drawings, and will be cnc machining them myself under the name ElectroMarine products. heres some prototype renderings
