I burnt a servo in mine too first time it's happened to me as well. Maybe it's those no lift turns!?

Well, my Insane is complete for now. Decals were hastily applied Red Bull ones I got off eBay. The boat will eventually be painted in Red Bull colours with other decals (go Webber!!). The windscreen was a 10 minute vinyl job.

      Set up is -
      Nemesis 8XL
      Hydra 120
      Thunderpower 30C 5,000 4S1P
      Octura X640

Had two runs today at the local lake, and I was impressed! By Lap 2 I was flat out around the course, without even thinking about backing off. The course is a little bigger than the old 1/10 mile. Our race lake has a course slightly bigger than 1/8 mile, so I'll prop up to a detongued 642 for there. Temp were all low even after about 7 laps. Can't wait to race her!

How does it handle ?? I know speeds are not there with the 640 but give us an idea. Any funny stuff going on ?? Hop, sponson lift in turns, bump steering of chop etc. Cheers

Handling was great! Need to get it in traffic to see what it will race like, but I could put it anywhere on the course I wanted. Slight sponson hop (just left one), but because the course was pretty short it was hard for the boat to settle down. No tank slappers/sponson dancing or anything like that. Maybe not as smooth as my Whip, but also not as prone to backflips.

Trev asked "will it stay on the pins?", so I simply moved the wheel a touch so it just about glanced the bouy, and his response was "yep!". I was running a little off the bouys as she's brand new If it was a car, you'd say it had heaps of grip (if that makes sense).

There were videos taken , so I just have to wait for Peter to load them on Youtube.

I felt the exact same way. It's turning ability is amazing. But the whip has a great feel when I drove mine. Just want some more drive time with it.

Well I took the boat out with a datalogger today and attached are the basic results. I am running 4s with turnigy 180, neu 1515 (2200kv).

Running with a M445 I got low fifties.
                Running with a M447 I got 57 mph

You will also see the AMP draw on there as well.

On my third run I must have hit something in the water because the boat just flipped over with no warning. I first tried to get it back with the ol' fishing pole. Too far out. I had to go to plan B(never used before) broke out the inflatable raft and the car powered blower. Screwed togther the paddles and went out to get the boat. Not a very proud moment paddling out in a blow up boat, but when you have that much money floating upside down in the water you do not care. I discovered that the entire prop and drive shaft were gone.

Labels on the Graph are a bit messed up. Graph 1 is 445, Graph w 447. You can tell by the increased amp draw that the 447 puts a load on the motor.

By the way, I have seen some other folks showing the top speed and other stuff at the bottom of the graph sheet in the legend area. If you can give me hint where you turn that on that would be great.

Sorta figured it out. The first on is the m447 and the second is the m445

Suggest you RPM to your graphs, it will tell you alot about which prop is correct for your hull.
                    Try a 642 prop.

I find the rpm curve interesting but it is not too useful if you already have the speed data. Amp draw and speed are far more helpful in tuning any boat with a data logger - amps means power and combined with speed is required to find a safe yet powerful setup. Of course if you are racing then a stopwatch on lap times and an IR gun are the most important.

I have not used the EagleTree system but it may not allow showing the maximum readings for each parameter. The Castle ICE does, those may be the graphs you are referring to.

I agree, trying an x642 would be a good idea. So would an m545, either could give higher speeds although those posted are not bad at all depending on the overall setup.

I have a x642 prop in my inventory, but this morning I am going to be looking to see if I have an extra drive shaft since the old one is in the bottom of the lake!

Video of my second run (thanks Peter!). I'm really looking forward to getting her on a bigger lake, but the small one is exciting!

Why does the speed "cycle" so much? Were you on/off the throttle a lot?

Yep, pretty good windshield. Thanks for that! I wonder why someone doesn't just specialize in making those and selling them. Pretty basic thing that eveyone wants and the one you sent me looks great.

You know, I have wondered about those peaks also because I am actually "on" the throttle for what seems like a pretty long time yet it looks like I am just doing it briefly? I did another log this last weekend where I was running a long distance down a straight on a river. When I get back in town from work I will see if that chart looks simliar. I was doing 54mph this weekend with a m445. I might prop up with a H6 prop I have to see what it will do, but I am pretty happy with mid-fifties.
