Yep. It isn't all bad, just some bad stuff happenin..

But once I know the adjustments at a lower speed, I can apply them at high speeds and sort it again, but be much closer to where it should be.

Trying to sort out a boat at high speed has led me to many crashes, so I work my way up to speed now. The batteries are in with velcro now, so I can mark where to put them for 3s and 4s and run whatever I feel like. I do this in other boats too, so I can share different voltage packs between them depending on water conditions. Choppy days, I run slower.

Hopefully I got all the crashing and burning out of my system for a while.

Well, sold the motor out of this and have a lower KV motor on the way. I'm thinking it will do well on 6s 1100Kv with a 15xl. Going to experiment with lower KV setups. Should draw less amps with more volts.

Meanwhile on the stock motor, mid 50's on 4s. Seems to either run wet or flip at higher speeds, so toned it back to keep it under control. The hull is so small. The drive conversion is holding up well. Stays dry and doesn't bind.

BTW- the sparkle paint is coming off... didn't stick too well to the gelcoat. Oh well, it was worth a try! Still looks better than if all the decals were peeling off!

Yay! I wanted somone to use that motor! I almost used it myself then saw the 600 heli outrunner and said what the heck because it can handle a little more amps. I am glad someone else is going to use a 1100kv motor
I wonder if 8s 3300mah cells would fit in the hull??

          Well, I'm using two 640 gram 4s 40c 5000mah packs, so yeah, they'll fit.

I'm probably going to use 6-7s with a cheap hi-model ESC that's rated for 7s. We'll see how it does. I'm sure it will break 60mph, the problem is keeping the front down without it nose diving or prop walking the tail. The hull is really short.... it's a challenge...

            Awesome! :D
and that is true about the hull.. hmmm
I wonder what tabs would do for that? They say they don't do much on cats but that might be why they are on the super surge?
another thing is turn fins might keep the tail strait?
I am in no way experienced with cats!

What's the stock prop size on this? I can't find it where I put it.
I'm going to run the stock setup on 4s2p and see how she does. I think the 440 might be a bit much for that little ESC. I added a UBEC to help keep the heat down, but who knows what this thing will or won't handle....

Mine measures 40mm diameter so the 440 would prolly be good!

Oh, cool. Then I'll just use the same 440 I've been using.
I've got it all wired up to run stock ESC/Motor w/4mm cable & strut on 4s2p 20c 8000mah. I run these packs in my E-Revo, so soldered it up with deans type connectors.

Should make for some good running.

(I made sure to pull the red wire on the ESC this time. )

That reminds me, i need to get a 3/16 prop shaft

Are you going wire drive? I would.

I want to try to use a 3/16 flex if i can find a cheep one and use the stock motor adapter, just one less thing to buy. I am so used to all 1/4in stuff because i have so many gassers and they all have 1/4in stuff that i can swap from boat to boat so i am gonna try to go all 3/16 with the electic ones so i will have the same thing going. But the wire does sound verrry tempting!!!

I might try to drill a couple out and keep it stock with a brass tube and see if i can get it strait.
