Yeah, T-mono in NAMBA is 83.98. Mark boat has more than 100+mph in it, but props and ride attitude have always caused nasty high speed crashes. I believe he has done one way passes over 90mph.

Here is a video from last weekend.
I is unedited so you have to exuse my bad driving (CG way to high) and a stupid ending. I had to try to se if it was possible to turn it right side up

Chose HD quality and full screen.

              Peter,

Yes I guess it is a little entertaining
No water in the boat, not even a small drop.
I use a good hockey stick tape for the hatch.

                Good Video Anbjorn,

Great looking lake you are running at too. I love the "Kid GPS" system. The more ooooh and aaaahhh, the faster is was obviously going. Top speed looks very good, but as you pointed out the CG is probably a little too far forward which causes it to spin out.

How is the wire drive and prop holding up?

                Cheers,

                  Thanks Tyler,

Yes it is a very nice lake. I have a mobile home parked looking down at the lake.
I stay there as many weekends as I can during summer.
There was a girl there, about 8 years old. She was very interested in the boat and I could bearly keep her out of it onshore.
You hear her in the video. Afterwards she was asking her dad wich was there too "dad can we get a boat like that?"

I have some tire weights taped to the bow of the boat. I will try to remove a couple and also raise the tabs a little bit.
Right now they are about 1mm above the hull line. I will also have a closer look at the turn fins as I think they might be a little high.

The wire drive seems to hold up very good so far. No play, heat, or vibration so far.
I have not had it out for inspection yet but I will after the next run.
Hopefully next weekend if the weather is nice.
                  Anbjørn

                          Anbjørn,

Beautiful spot indeed! I have a trick to solve your prolems which has been working on my smaller boats. I'll send you a pic vic email. You should not have to add any weights considering that the boat is probably pretty heavy already. The turn fins probably need to be pretty deep to to help grab the boat to turn. I have found that when the DF's are on plane, the turn fins rarely touch the water so it's OK to run the deep without the straightline drag penalty.

That is a very good question. That was one of my worries before I could actually test it.
The first and biggest problem was that the pianowire was slightly bigger than the 5mm ID of the bearings. I used a drill to spin the wire and slowly redusing the diameter of the wire using sand paper and then slip on the bearings.
I then cut pieces of 10mm OD aluminium pipe used for spacing the bearings inside the 10mm ID brass pipe. I hoped that the aluminium pipes would bend easy. Yeah right!!!
I realy took some elbow grease to bend.
Bent the whole thing with the wire, spacers and bearings just enough to make sure that the exiting end of the wire was absolutly level with the keel line and motor clearing the bottom of the hull.
I made the motor end of the wire pointed and pulled it out.
I lubed the wire and it slid right back in again.
However without the pointed end it would not had gone thru.

So to answer your question. Changing the wire is no problem.
Hopefully the wire never need replacement.
                            Hope this make sense.

So How do you pack the bearings with grease? And how do you get the Berrings dry in a tube?

I bought the best bearings I could find. These where already filled with Kluber grease, which I also consider the best grease for this application.
These are the ones I used: http://www.bocabearings.com/productd...x?ItemID=10692

Regarding drying the bearings inside the tube there is no water entering it. Atleast not last year. The M&D strut is mounted and sealed with silicone.
Inside the strut itself there is also high viscosity gear oil.

I had a good day today running my Sniper.

Tried 3 different props: Prather 260, 265 and 270 cut down to 67mm. All from Dasbota.
GPS speeds for the 3 props: 137,4km/h, 138,7km/h,137,8km/h

The strange thing is that the 265 was actually faster than the 270. The 265 also seemed to pull more amps.
I could be that I run the 265 slightly deeper than the 270. More testing needs to be done.
At least I am now able to pin the throttle for a few seconds.
But I must say that it it is a hand shaking experience!!!

Also made some amp logging with my EagleTree. Hard acceleration with the 265 gave me max amps of 460.......... :-0
