    Spots Rico 20 Mono build.

I picked up a Rico 20 Mono hull from a member here. The hull was original build by Mad Mike with a wet well design. (kinda different/cool). I am going to put a Neu/castle 1515 1y on 4s-5s with a skywing 200amp esc.

What prop would be a good starting point for this combo on 4s?

Sweet! I bought his other Rico mono! It was the green one with Monster graphics. I ran a Neu/castle 1518 1800kv on 5s2p. With a x447, or x548, it FLEW. Gps'd at 58mph! I also ran the Neu/castle 1515 1y. The best prop for that setup is a m445. Is it for sport running? If so, go with the 1518 if you don't already have the 1515. The extra oomph is well worth it!

Yeah, its for sport running. I already have the 1515. What kind of temps where you getting with the m445 and how many amps were you pulling?

Motor temps were right around 120 degrees. Seaking 180 was about the same and 4s2p 10,000mah total at 30c were just ambient temps. I never actually ran a logger on it, but amps were prob averaging around 120. I wouldn't run 5s on that setup though. It's pretty hot to start. Prop up just a little and amps spike!! I smoked a 180 seaking with that setup and a x645. It is an AWESOME running hull! My favorite mono by far!

What speeds were you seeing with the M445?

What about a Y537/3? It should be ok on 4s and move out on 5s and be easy on the amps......or is it too small to move a hull of this size?

Probably not enough pitch for much over 40 mph. That motor would be a bit weak on 4S (low rpm) but on 5S I'd go with an m545 or m645. Just watch the heat and try to keep the boat on step.

                      yeah, i didn't catch that. I thought it was a 1y. I'd run hs and a x645 or m645 like Fluid stated.

My bad it is a 1Y. I changed the first post. Does the Y537/3 make more sense now?

These hulls are awesome!! With a 1y I would start with a 442 and work your way up. Depending on how high your struts located a 37mm might not be enough diameter.
