FC I built one like this and it works. I would stay away from the ski type bend in the front. I found out that it will make it ride up on top of the boat your trying to push. Also make sure its plenty wide in between the pontoons...(300' across the lake its like trying to thread a needle) hope this helps

yeah, I find that same problem when using the Villain PVC apparatus. The curve is a small one, basically to thwart nose dives in choppy water.

I'm considering some music wires through the tubing to help "hook" the distressed boat if partially submerged or if the PVC just want's to go over the top of it. I think it should be able to overcome the drag from a few wires hanging down.

It's OK, it was funny. I really don't know "if" either.

I think I may have found an EDF fan mount solution though. 74mm fan inside a 3" PVC.

          I could use a 3" to 2" PVC reducer as a cone...

We'll see. Going to the hardware store soon to find out.

FC I put a very small trolling motor under the center carriage, ran the shaft thru a " T "and turned it with a 1/4 scale servo. I worked great, but it's awkward because you cant set it down without it setting it on the motor.

I've found that 3" PVC will work for mounting the EDF jets, so have two of them setup for this PVC Monster. Two full Kilograms of thrust!

The plan is to use a V-Tail for steering.

I'll save the propeller setups for the boogie board as there is a transom to work with and more room for tupperware. =) Heh, time for a twin motor boogie board! (twin 380)

                More to follow next week.

You know if this thing really worked and it was fast, someone would outlaw it.

I'm not sure how fast it will be, but it should giddy up for sure!

I'm thinking if I use a 3" reducer and a stretch of PVC that I'll be able to direct the thrust up or down by positioning the stretch of PVC towards the tail. I'm not really sure of the angle of thrust needed at this point, so leaving room for adjustment.

Just a quick update. The Fans are in, the tubes are cut, the v-mixer is ready... All I need now is a good day of creative energy to come along!

theres one already built if you need some inspiration. I am building one with danny that has twin props and breaks down for easy transport. we are building ours to go after our small stuff and the 1/8 scale hydros we are working on.

Very interested to see how this works for you.

If it works well, I may retrofit mine with EDFs instead of the steerable outdrive that I currently have. I like the idea of not having anything below the rescue boat that could snag on something in the water.

Here is a pic of my PVC rescue boat with my custom boat lift.

OK, took me a bit to program the ESC's and get the V-Tail mixer setup for turning. There's a delay in signal response, typical of cheap air ESC's. Makes the steering a bit delayed.

The V tail steers by increasing one side and decreasing the opposing side's fan velocity.

Headed for the pool test today. He he.
