    Shooter's Miss Vegas FE Build

Just about complete... Need to finish some final graphics and she'll be done! Not my prettiest boat, but it will do. Afterall, it's a pirate ship!! Arggghhhh!!

    NEU 1515 1Y
    4s2P Hyperion Lipo's
    Hydra 240
    MV original hardware
    OSE water jacket

I modified the hull to accept a rectangular pc of plexiglass. This allows a nice flat seal with hatch tape all around. The photos show it taped. There is a small hump in the plexiglass for clearance above the motor (thanks to HydroJerry for the tips on heating plexiglass!) The cowl was modified to sit flat against the hatch lid. It survived 1ft submerged for 1 minute without a drop of water inside.

Going to run it this weekend! Can't wait...

Seems to be a lot of controversy over the Hydra 240 and if you should solder the inputs together. I just followed the instructions and soldered them together, hopefully this is correct!

Thanks guys! Eventually I'm going to paint the turbine black and have two jolly rodger flags on each side. This is just temporary cause I ran out of time for this weekend. The wing will be just as you described Jerry... and yes I can send you a decal. Just let me know exactly what size.

Make a wake - Nice comment! Sounds like a phrase I could put on the bottom of the boat when she's upside down (hopefully not too often).

Well, finally got her on the water. !!!!!!! This thing really moves.... my legs are still shaking!! I ran it without the cowl (just the hatch taped down as shown above) and an X642 prop. She jets across the water like a dart. Just under 60mph (58.3mph on the GPS). The nose is getting a little flighty (had 2 blow-overs). Not sure if I should add weight to the front or adjust the strut. The CG is well behind the sponson tips. I think that 65mph+ should be no prob (possibly even with the X642!!). Need to do some tweaking this week.... some weight shifting, turn fin adjustments, and other tweaks....and VERY calm water!! Very happy with the first run.

By the way - blowovers at these speeds are quite impressive. I actually bent my turn fin! Very impressed with the vegas turn fin mount. This thing is tough!

Propper - Not sure if you GPS'd yours, but I'd say you are EASILY over 60 in that "best day ever" vid!

                  Lusso - It's 0.187" flex in 1/4" stuffing tube w/speed masters bushing.

                      Nice cat Jerry!

BTW - I forgot to mention that I had about 4 hours into that 642 prop! It's soo sharp that it will cut paper! I moved the batts up a bit (CG now 1" behind sponsons) and ran her a few times yesterday. My bro took some video. I'll see if I can post it. Didn't have the GPS for these runs, but I'd say it might be hitting 60 now. Attached is GPS from the first run...

I'm really getting a kick out of running with no cowl. It's sleek and low to the water. Reminds me of the old inboard gassers with the belt drive starters.

Here's a vid of some straight runs.... 62mph.

I moved the CG closer to the front. It's still packing too much air at the higher speeds. Still running the X642. I'm sure the electronics could take a bigger prop, but at the moment I am way beyond the hull's limitations. Anyone have any ideas??

I'm thinking about trying a front spoiler since my problem is only at high speeds.
