I have not done verymuch testing because my pond is full of weeds. Currently using the m445 prop the strut is 7/8" deep and dead flat on setup board.

Time to revive this old tread. Here's latest mods that helped with stability at higher speeds. Prop is the ABC 1816/3. Motor/ESC is Neu 1515 1y and Hydra LV 240

1.Virginia Craftman turnfin is angled inward and mounted inside of bracket for smoother water flow off and away from fin. The Blazer fin also works well

              2. Prop was extended past rudder for larger footprint. I used a longer strut bracket and longer strut.

              3. Two Thunderpower 4s 4400mah packs (heavier than two 3300mah packs)

Wow. Great mods and excellent prop selection Detox! I bet she runs real smooth with that 3 blade. Mine is still bouncing around a bit, but that prop might smooth things out..... VID: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TxPUwhtMn6k

The 1816 prop did make my hull faster, but faster is looser (more bouncy because of chop). The 1816 is also a little harder to setup than the m445 or m545. It has more lift that requires a more shallow and slightly negative strut setting. Adding weight to stern also helps.

Your hull looks like it handles verywell, but going faster will be looser or more bouncy because of choppy water.

Thanks for the feedback. I think I may have experienced something similar with a 1700 series octura prop. It had a lot of lift and it really liked stern weight. Can you start from zero speed with the 1816 prop? Or do you have to launch it to get it to hook up?

Not sure how to describe it, but I've always had smoother performance with 3 blade props. Not as "jittery". There are no 3 blades available (that I know of) in the M545 size range. A 445/3 would be nice. I think Octura makes a 447/3. The 1816 has a lot of pitch in comparison, doesn't it?

When the strut was set deeper I could launch instantly from zero, but now with the shallower setting it will cavitate a little before grabbing. You can hear the cavitation in this older video.

pfffftt! That's nothing. That little beauty starts right up.....Very nice!! I've had some boats go 100 feet or so before they hook up. I found thinning the prop out (really thin!!!) helps a ton and sometimes alleviates all of the starting cavitation.
