Suggestions for an EKOS hull

Ordered the C/C 2200's.

Most likely go with the Turnigy 180 ESC's, HOTR hardware and Jeff Wohlt wire drives.

Careful fitting the 180's in the hull, there's barely enough room for them and you'll have to bend wires to make it happen. If you haven't worked with them, they are large. I'll take some photos of a pair that I have in an EKOS hull.

This hull is the same dimension as the EKOS hull (my EKOS is full, so wouldn't help this demonstration)

I couldn't fit them in the sponsons without bending the tinned wire ends on the PC board. The water inlet/outlets are about the same height as the cowl hatch landing shelf.

If you could make them work, it would be a tight fit. Looks possible, but very tight at best.

Thanks for taking the time to post those pics. They do look like they are going to be a problem to fit. This sucks, the price is right on these and they seem to have great reviews. Can the wires be removed and soldered so they are flat???

I would guess so, but careful soldering to PC boards and only use as much heat as necessary, wouldn't want to damage a new ESC board. I think they will fit, just a real tight job. I have a single 180a in my Apparition. It's sitting in the center in front of the motor. I had to remove the wood ESC mount and bend the wires gently and it worked out well.

Twin Hydra 240's would require a LOT of battery. Might be too much for just two lipo packs.

yes, I would like this to be a reliable 4S setup.

So, maybe not the perfect set up but here goes. Running twins draws a bit less amps. I run 540 10XLs in the HOTR hull.. same as EKOS. I run 6S and use Turnigy 120s. On a single powered boat, I should be drawing on a 442 about 118- 119 amps. I spike at about 90A per side. That being said, you may be able to sneak by w/ the 120s. Although the 2200s will pull somewhere in the 125 range single drive, on a twin Id estimate about 100A per side. Not saying its a perfect set up, and your not going to be spinning 447s... but it could work. And it will all fit... barely. These hulls fill up really fast. There is no room at all for what we all want to do w/ them. Also, your rgiht on track w/ that set up... Id bet youll be darn close to 60. May not get you the reliablity you want though.. but if you keep an eye on things and dont do anythign drastic, people have pushed these 120s a lot harder

I agree, twins pull much less power. I'm getting 55+ off of a pair of 60 ESC's and only spiking 53 amps. I'd be willing to try it. If the CC 2200 cooling cans will fit in the hull. It's tight.

No dice, there's only 42mm max to fit the cans on top of the sponsons. The CC 2200 motor will fit if you bend the hull and stretch it out, but not the OSE cooling can. MAYBE a silicon cooling can cover will work, but don't know if they work with the fins on the CC 2200kv motor.

I planned on running 442's to start with and see how everything works. I did like the cushion that the bigger ESC gives me because I know eventually I going to push the limits of the motors. I also plan on purchasing an eagletree system so I can properly monitor the amp draw before I start to try anything crazy.

aaaha.... That's what I was thinking of doing. I am taking a gamble on those motors fitting in there but I did try to stretch it and take measurement. It looks really close, but with a pry bar and hammer it may be possible.
