It's a bent 4mm square drive propeller shaft. If I replace the bushings and the square drive cable, it'll need a coupler too. Got it.
That rudder system will fit the EPOS and can replace the stamped steel one that keeps bending. Might be good to get that anyway.

Might as well order some other parts from HOTR while I'm there ordering.
Let me know if you know of anything to stay away from.

Ive gotten a few things from them and have been 100% pleased. Shipping takes a littel bit, but all things considered, not bad from its starting location. Usually 10-15 days. He also ships so its trackable.
As for staying away from parts, I personally dont care for the 4mm stuff, but a lot of his hardwr Ive gotten was 4mm.. very easy to modify to use 3/16 though. You could easily change your existing strut (provided it didnt bend in your casualty) and run 3/16. Like I said, you can get all the parts from OSE for about 30ish shipped. And have it done by the weekend. You dont need to buy a whole new drive.
EDIT Oh and if your strut did bend, Ive got an extra lyin around, for 4mm. I can mod it for 3/16 and send it to you.Comment

Yeah, sent Steve an email asking for what parts I need to order to do the 3/16 update. I don't want to guess and get the wrong stuff. Hate that. I have a special box that's full of stuff that "looked like it would fit" and is less expensive than the return shipping cost. Argh.
Planning on adding more stuff from OSE anyhow, so will just add this stuff in with it and get it going. I should just go ahead and get the 442 prop too.
If the list of conversion parts is simple and available on the website, help would be appreciated. =)

Yep. that's the part that's bent. Well, in two pieces now. I cut it to remove it nicely. The bushings inside appear to be OK. Strut is in good shape. =)

and a new 1/4" drill bit.
Oh and youll probably have to replace the stuffing tube w/ a 1/4" O.D. tube. NOt sure what one comes in the App, but factory may work.. I dunnoComment

Brass Drive Tube is ~6mm OD
Tube inside is 4.75mm ID
The strut tube is 6mm ID
The strut tube bushing is 4mm ID, 6mm OD
Is the stuffing tube and the drive tube the same brass tube on this one? The drive tube was fiberglassed into the hull.
Think I got it.
If I drill out the strut, the 3/16-1/4 bushings will fit. Then use the 3/16 prop shaft and .150 drive cable and replace the coupler to work with the drive cable. The concern is the drive cable liner fitting in to the drive tube?
My concern with that setup, is there is nothing to prevent the drive cable from going out to sea. I REALLY like having the prop shaft captive. Especially after the whole EKOS adventure.
Is there a whole strut/tube/shaft/cable setup that would work?

Yup, your seein it right. O.D. on a 1/4" tube is 6.35. Your stuffing tube will come out w/out much work. Ive done a few myself. Ive been running those .150 shafts and couplers and havent lost anything yet. Get a good solder bond on it and check it regularly for anything going wrong and you will be fine. You can also put a wheel collar on the flex shaft between the motor and stuffing tube to prevent a loss if your coupler breaks loose. I dont think it could get passed the rudder though.Comment
