    weight of a spec tunnel

i am curious about the weight of a p-spec tunnel. i just got a leecraft and it seems heavy as a bare hull. if anyone knows i would like to know the weight of the vission craft hull and vs1 bare and finished weight of a p-spec tunnel that runs respectable (please note with or without battery).
    thanks

right now with a 5000mah pack it comes in at 5lbs 2oz. i still have some building to finish (misc glue and paint 6oz) so i think when all said and done, painted it will be 5.5lbs.
is a super-v motor going to make this thing go or do i need to use a ul-1 package? i have the super-v stuff ready to go and just wanted opinions.

not 100% sure chuck but i think the sv27 motor was the go for p-spec before the ul-1 motor

like i say i havent run a ul-1 motor but from what i have read the sv27 motor propped rite is nearly as if not as good.
chuck on the leecraft is the centre section (canopy, transom) offset like the vs1 ?

no, it is centered. i had no idea that the vs1 was offset. i am pretty sure all my tunnels (original leecraft from tommy, vissios and new lee) are all centered.

okay thanks mate, was just curious as my vs1 the centre is offset about 1/2" to the right
never heard anyone mention this and thought it maybe common knowledge or on most tunnels

my thinking is its offset to reduce prop walk and help cornering,be interesting if the vs1 is the only hull to do such

WEIGHT is your friend! I run an aeromarine predator. It's heavier than most of the other boats out there. Makes just as good speed and not nearly as likely to blow over!

from what i have read the vs1 in nitro trim was prone to blow overs, the added weight when running a electric setup stops this.
i weighed mine a couple weeks ago, it came in at 2 kg were others i heard of were 2.5 kg
was suspect on my kitchen scales so tried a mates digital set and it to was 2.5 kg

Not necessary so, it depends on your weight to power ratio. If you have a lot of power and run time is not a concern, they you can use it. But with spec motors and the power they have I like a bigger light boat and I will add weight if needed for water conditions. Wilmer's record setting boat is real light and dialed to the max. Watch the Nat's, he was second at the Nat's this last year 2009 with a brand new boat. Now that he has some dial time the boat is killer.

i have to agree with randy, power to weight is where it is at. my older leecraft is extremly light but with proper set-up it works great. i would rather dial the set-up than add weight. the fe's seen to allready be comming in heaver than the nitro versions so i still think lighter is good. at any rate, i think mine is going to be around 5.5lbs
