Are your 380 motors 3000 kV or less? Are motors hot afler a run? Did you adjust speed controlers, full power with TH trim is a the maximum?

Sounds like the motors are kinda winding out to me.. props arent hooking up. As for props, maybe try starting w/ the stock EKOS props.? Seems like the rpm is there. Even if the only props you have (matching) are the same rotation but close to the diameter you need, try them. And try x or m series on it. Those props are proven to work on cats.

How bout some pics of the drives from the side?

Your no load rpm should be over 31,000. I would think she should be runnin in the mid 30s easy.

Definately the props. They are just cavitating and not hooking up.

They are 2881kv and I only ran for a short time... Not long enough to get hot....

Have you tried adjusting the prop depth? I would try raising them a little first. It's free.

I would suggest a little space between the drive dog and stinger but I don't think thats whats slowing you down. Maybe an 1/8" or so.

looks to me like he is running a floating rear prop shaft, so no gap is needed
if not then yes it needs a gap.
i will go with my thoughts earlier on PROPS there just not hooking up,i am no prop expert but have seen the same thing when the pitch is very high.
if you can get a set of ekos props would be the go or as suggested any 2 props the same

Does this speed control have a governor mode? Is it possible that his throttle range setting is incorrect? To me it didn't sound like he was turning the full rpm's........

it wont rev out while both props are submerged, but they were spinning well fast enough for it to be up on plane.
if it was allowed to run in a straight line for some distance it may allow the props to work

as i say they wont spin full rpm,the props are submerged putting twice the load it would normally run, as he takes of at the start it sounds normal till more throttle is applied.
sounds like the props are just cavitating
