    ready for motor mount....

    Updates:

Rails, battery tray and faux bulkhead, foam fill.

Made me some rails out of 1/8" 5 ply with a battery tray that allows some adjustment. Went with 4" rails so I could also throw some batteries along the outside. the faux bulkhead was intstalled to keep the foam invasion to a minimum.

I got the bow half full and realized maybe I should check the deck refitting issue... had to install the balsa cross beams to close up the hull about a quarter inch. Notice the 1/16" bass wood I CAd to the top of the bow to keep the curve smooth. This also allowed sufficient surface area to hold the cross beams.

I was worried this morning when I checked the final foam layer (ended up doing three total- pics are after 2nd). But fortunately my cross beams held and the deck still fits back on perfectly.

I am thinking either silicone joint seal or some more foam and a deckwide epoxy job... anyway here are some pics.

      7s4p??

So this Neu 1524 1.5Y (1350 ish KV) motor should be able to handle 7S... And the hull should be able to hold 4P... So that would mean 26+ Volts and 14,400 mah and 30C

I am thinking 5S4P should be normal running setup. I will post pic of my 4P adapter I fashioned.

Are you gonna take that foam to the top of the spars? I would; then sand it back down flush with the top of the bulkheads; then deck it. It looks really good though.

rough that deck on the back side with some med/coarse grit sand paper before you deck it. Then hold the deck in place with weights, tape,or watever you have that will hold the deck down until it cures. Should be fine after that.

ya, mhz makes some killer stuff! probably gonna go stinger with dual rudders, lets see what Jeff Wholt comes up with.

Yes, foam over the ribs then sand back down to deck contour, will rough it up - hadn't thought about weights, may try that - thanks.

looks like 1300ish is the majic number for this guy... What battery config you thinnkin?

I would definitely start there, I think this KV will provide plenty of torque - why not parallel up? I am sure she could use the extra weight. I am thinking an x447 would be a good prop to have on hand as well.

so Carl, how did your stinger installation go? got any update pics? I'd like to see what you did with the arc where the transom comes out to meet the overhang...

Well.....................havent installed the stinger yet..........................so little time, so many projects......... I am working on it as we speak. Now that its out front and center, i can concentrate on it. I may be able to finish it and run it this weekend. The stinger's gonna fit fine as far as i can tell! Here are pics of my goodies!

nice looking strut, how adjustable is it?

whatcha gonna du for a rudder?

I am thinking dual rudders and one of Jeff's bearingized struts. He is working on an assembly for me. Here is the pic he sent me, not all the angles, but to give an idea.

not sure if it really needs two rudders, but maybe this way I can avoid need for turn fins. Plus I am thinking of pushing this puppy mid 40s...

Dual rudders will not completely resolve the need for anti spin fins. They are great for monos that need to run the left and right turns in offshore courses. If it is a little layed back setup you may get buy with dual rudders only

Pulled my new 180a Turnigy out of the box and added 6mm female bullets and traxxas connectors............i know, but they have worked very well for me in my other boats. The white series wire i added is 10 guage from a castle MM Esc. The 580L now sports 6mm male bullets. I also added my signature shrink wrap on the traxxas connectors.......i think it helps from too much bending right at the connector. Tube has been fitted and everything lines up.
