      Chuck E Cheese ,

Thanks for the nice comment mate.

The first time i saw the real Maritimo racing cat, i was standing at the back of the boat and admiring the drives and props , also wondering what the flap on the tunnels roof was for. Had to ask 1 of the mechanics , He told me the flap was there to try and control the boat when it was in the air or going over a big wave.
Also that the are now banned because of to many nose in first accidents.
Every since that day i wanted to build 1 into 1 of my model maritimo's and i'm almost there.
I really think its going to work and work well.

      Bea5017,

      Thanks mate .

It takes me about 12 months to build 1 of these Maritimo's and i'm about 3/4 of the way there.
The pictures will continue to the very end of the thread.

A few more pics of the oiler.

      Cheers Bonewar

i am in the process of starting a mid 50's 32" cat right now, what do you think about using a wedge to simulate the flap in the down position? good idea or bad idea? if good how much lower than the tunnel would you recomend, 1/2"? i guess i could use double sided tape to test it and glass it in if it works...

                Chuck,

Mate i think it is a very good idea,
Just look at the tunnel tab fix for the jolly cat.
                It tame the hull .

the best way to set it up is put the hull on a flat table and have a look at how much
clearance there is before the flap touches the water. you don't want the flap touching the water.
I've kept mine at about half the travel.
If you where to have the flap so that it closed off the tunnel , i think it would make the trapped air run down the length of the tunnel and make the boat lift and go over.
My intention is to try and keep the nose of the cat at its ride height longer to achieve more speed buy only closing off half the tunnels air flow for a split second until the cat levels out again.

I think your idea will work only testing will tell the truth.
Good luck with it mate ,and if it does work out well for you tell the boys on this forum.

                CornelP ,
You like my oiler , couldn't just go with a little oil tank had to look the part.
                NOS rules.

                Anbjorn,

                Thanks mate.
Only the testing will tell if this tunnel flap will work.
But i know 1 thing , this cat will be very fast regardless of the tunnel flap.

                Thanks people

                    Jerry,

Mate the NOS tank is very simple.
At the back of the tank is the filler hole/vent.
And at the front of the tank on the floor of the cat is a
small 1 way value primer set up which is attached to the front bottom of the tank.
It very easy to use .
2 pumps on the primer bulb and the stuffing tube will almost
                    be full of oil.
The tank will hold enough oil for about 5 runs. Then i will fill it up using a small syringe.

+ it looks very cool sitting there.

                    Cheers

                          Jerry,

                          To tell you the truth,
I haven't got that far yet.
I was going to try a couple of different oils to see which 1 worked out the best.

I think a mix of grease and oil will be the winner.
I'll keep you updated on that when i get back to it.

My focus has move back to the control servos and gyro mount.
Should have them all finished up by the end of the weekend.
Then to seal up the cut away parts of the hull and paint this beast.

                              Jeepers,

The little Nos bottle is a lighter.
I just removed the workings from the inside and sealed up the holes.
