The thing that I would be worried about is that the real cat is not the same as our scaled down models. If yours is going 80mph and is 1/10th(?) scale, then are you going 800mph in scale speed? And the weight of the H&M at 10lbs(?) would be 1000lbs scale wieght? I would think you would want a conard up front? Any little amount of difflection from the flap would create huge amounts of upforce at 80 mph. Would think you would not want much difflection from the flap or would want a really small flap? I don't know...Will be interesting to see what happens.

The bow lifting and top speed is a function of:

Right propeller, Right strut height and angle and Right c.g.

      Still experimenting with mine...
If the gyro-flap patent can make it stable at high speeds that's a very big step.

        Malibu,
Scale rules do not apply for this cat as it is designed for 3.5cc power =1.3hp. The 1527 is 7+ hp also the end weight of the boat is 2 times its design limit. There for the rules of the boats handle performance change. I agree with you that the flap will have a lot of up force at speed, this is what I'm trying to achieve , it will be set up with very little deflection to start with. The only time that it will come into play is when the boat lifts her nose 95% of the time the flap will be closed.

        DISAR,
With my Simrad twin cat it has come to a point where i can not achieve any more speed/better handling from the set up. I have tried everything to improve its performance . This is why i have decided to add the tunnel flap to the M12 project to see if i can go past a very good set up. Have a look at the second lap on this clip the boat gets up to a little over 60 mph http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G_ZCf7mOXmc and starts to get a little flighty. This is the time i hope the flap will keep the M12 level longer to achieve more speed.

        Ok,
Here is a pic of the props i have bought for this project.
ABC-4217/3, ABC-4518/2, ABC-4518/3, ABC4718/3, OCTURA X 646 BARR CUT. I will start with these and work my way up. BONEWAR

I'd be worried about using the ribbed roller on the carbon.

It might cut the fibers. You would want to use a smooth roller.

              M12

I have received the rest of the parts for this build.
The ESC will get 2 more caps to handle the load.
The 1527 will get a carbon fiber water jacket,
And the motor will get a thrust bearing , Octura 8mm-3/16 connector.

Waiting on the weather (raining) so that i can start fiberglassing the new hatch , carbon fiber floor.
Next update when i have finished the glass work. BONEWAR

                    THANKS MATE.

I bought the carbon fiber kuhlers from AndrewG . http://www.fastelectrics.com/blmotors1.asp scroll down the page and you will see there are lots of choices. For the 1515's i think there are $17 AUS each. Very good price. The pic doesn't show how glossy they look. Just perfect for a couple of carbon fiber junkies. BONEWAR

I'm getting a bit ahead myself, but here are the finished decals for the boat , It's a long way off but i think they will look very good when finished. A couple of blue strips down the sides and the hatch blue. AWESOME!!! BONEWAR

                              wizard 122

The capacitors in the picture are for high amp applications.(3300uf 50v)
I will be running 44.4v throw the hydra 240HV ESC which should be up to the task .
Adding the extra caps to the ESC will help it deal with any high amp spikes or ripple current. Sort of like a cheap insurance policy.
The capacitors i have bought are polarized , So that means there is a + and - wire on the cap. The positive wire gets soldered to the ESC positive wire and the negative wire gets soldered to the negative wire on the ESC .Within 50mm from the ESC. When i solder the caps on i just strip a little bit of the ESC wires and solder, that way you don't have to cut the ESC wires to add the caps. Finish off with a bit of heat shrink , DONE!!
I'll post up a picture when i have done this to show you. BONEWAR
