I'll start this thread with the components i have purchased for this build .

Ok there it is , Well as you can see this is going to be a single drive cat with a few added extras. I will post more as i build her . A few pic's of the goodies. BONEWAR

OK,

I've started to modify the hull , I have cut out the old hatch and the exhaust ports, This will be replaced with a new glass hatch . The shape of the hatch is more like the new version of the real Maritimo's. No scoops on this boat ,real clean look,better for high speed crashes. I have cut a hole in the tunnel's roof at the back of the boat to allow for the tunnel flap Assembly . Also i have extended the tunnel to the back of the hull to give me more room for the flap to work. This thread should explain the flap .http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...ad.php?t=10541
The tunnels floor will get carbon fiber and the hulls seam will get some glassed in tape for extra strength .Next update when i have finished the fiberglassing. BONEWAR

10 and 12 's ??? Whattt!!!! One thing bonewar, whats your speed goal? Better build for some tumbles

Jeff don't worry, this hull will be bullet prof when I'm finished, all cut outs on the hull will be replaced with fiberglass/carbon fiber.

Wolf my speed goal for the M12 is 80+ mph . No scoops just the canopy, built to crash!!

For this cat no need for cornering fast it will be my straight line drag boat.

This is where I'm up to with the tunnel extension and flap.
I'm not planning on using the flap until i have the boat running fast , Ive built it into the hull so that if it does not work i can close the flap and it wont leak. I think it will work well . Prof in the testing!! The futaba GY401 is a very good gyro and matched to a futaba high speed digital servo will do the job well. I'm going to set it up so that the flap does not touch the water when fully open at full speed. I know this will not stop the boat from losing contact with the water and going over what I'm hopping is that it will allow the boat to stay in contact with the water longer to achieve more speed. At high speeds the flap will give you lift in the rear when you try to close the tunnel. At least that is what I seeit doing...will that then bring the nose down? Seems like it would...or does she just fill up and lift off? argggg

Which water inlets did you use in the sponsons. They look flush.

Here is a pic of a real Maritimo's back end , You can clearly see the flap and the tunnel extension. The flap when open up at high speed should keep the front of the boat level at its ride hight longer , There for giving me more speed .
With my twin Maritimo when she gets to top speed she really starts to lift her nose high , But this only happens at full throttle. This is when the flap will come into play on the M12 keeping the nose of the boat down .
The water intakes are from MHZ , when i glass them into the hull i leave them about 1mm under the surface so that i can bog them in to achieve a very smooth look (last pic). I'm not to sure about these water intakes , i think they might cause to much drag? The single ones would have been better. The intakes in the pic are the single version , the intakes on the boat are the double version. BONEWAR
