    just purchased...

an Aeromarine Mean Machine bare hull. I am up in the air as to whether i want to do twins in it or run a single motor. I have read quite a few threads on here about the MM hull. im a fan of it and i like the new style cowl that is offered by a member here.

look forward to this build and any advice/input is greatly appreciated.

I've seen the boat run well with P-Spec parts (SV motor/ESC), I'd think twins would be overkill and alot more $$ and headaches.
    Just my 2 cents though...

Neu 1515/1Y would do very nicely in that hull.

would these be any fun for a bit just to get the layout and then get better motors as my budget allows? just curious...really would like to run twins...seen it done with this hull and it was pretty quick.

that looks like a bargain, but i think there 380 sized motors, even tho they mite work well enough a decent single setup would be faster and more reliable.
the stinger/flex setup can be a real pain as it uses a sqaure flex inside the prop shaft, basicly you need to remove the motor to remove the flex shaft.
you would still need 2 esc,s and 2 batteries.
if you decide to go single a fiegao 8xl on 4s can be a good budget setup and still get you in the mid 40s,then later on its just a case of upgrading one motor
just my 2c,your boat your build

Only good thing about that kit is that it is convenient and cheap

The worst thing about it is that it has no longevity..........don't waist your time or money

the more i look at it the more im definately leanin towards single on this hull...ill save my money and twin idea for a larger hull. i appreciate any advice especialy since im new the the brushless lipo setups. i have had my SV27 for about 2 yrs and i love that thing but never ran lipos til this christmas when i got the turnigy 2s 5000mah 20-30c packs and a charger.

will the 8xl be able to run on 2 3s packs as well as the 2s? id like to run what i have but also b able to run 6s in it at some point.

what size esc is recomended for the 8xl?

the two 2s lipos will be perfect for the 8xl but i wouldnt run 6s on it for very long....maybe a couple minutes fur a speed run

depending on your budget for esc i would get a 120 or 180 turnigy 0r steve has some good cheaper esc's coming...ask him when they will arive

if u dont have the 8xl yet u might consider a 9 or 10xl so you can run 6s in future

yeah i dont have the motor as of yet. only thing i do have is my sv27 stuff but id prefer to keep that boat together in case my buddys want to run with me. ill get a 10xl so i can go faster as i see fit. run the 2s for a while, grab a few 3s packs. I did like the turnigy esc's. so far ive read some decent reviews on them. what size prop would you guys recomend to start off with?

I agree, a decent single motor vs twin for this hull....
