Interesting. Your post on rum runner says SEMI SCALE! So I was NOT mistaken about the original intent of this class that it is NOT PURE SCALE as some on here suggest. Thanks!

No not pure scale that would mean all boats must be built after a real existing boat, we are allowing boats to be freelanced as long as the hull dementions are compliant and key Scale factors are present. It just needs to look like a crackerbox with drivers, engine or scoop where the engine would be ECT.Last edited by Hydromaniac; 12-14-2009, 12:53 PM.Comment

Judging from what I've seen selling ESCs for 10+ years, I think 95% is a conservative number. I'd say the sport boaters probably outnumber racers more like 99:1. But they all seem to like to run what the racers run.

Well we have came to an agreement for the driveline that is kind of middle of the road. With that done it is time to test the motors and drivelines. So My self and a few others have begun hulls. There is already a FG hull that is ready plus Rich Koll of Legend boats is developing a full build wood kit of a Classic style California CB , and I have one nearly finished for testing, I have used the rules from the APBA scaled to 1/6 size to build a modern style racing Crackerbox. I have deisgned the hull from my drawings and set that to the hull demensions that we used as our guide during our rules agreement discussion. The hull is nearly finished and should be painted in a few days, If the pond is open I plan to test soon, It was open but the temp is -5 degrees this morning, perhaps we'll warm up again next week. LOL. Here are a few photos of the build and where the hull is now.

Paint Finished.
I have finished the paint and lettering. I block sanded the hull wet starting with 320 grit sand paper and finishing with 600 grit sand papers. Once the sanding was done I cleaned the hull with soap and water then with grease and wax remover and and tacked the hul clean and sprayed 2 coats of House of color pearl White and let dry for 2 hours, Once dry I masked the white panel and stripe areas and sprayed 2 full wet coats of Lemon Candy Yellow over the white and left to dry. I then added the outline pin stripes around the white panel areas using Bright Orange, I made the P#s and "Gone Bananas" Logo on my computer. I printed them on vinyl using waterproof inks andcut them out with an Xacto blade and applied them to the hull. I blocked off the Cockpit floor to close the hatch to keep water out, added a couple of racing product decals. I applied 2 Full wet coats of PPG clear and let dry for 2 hours then color sanded the hull and hatch with 1000 grit sand paper wet and applied the final 2 clear coats. The hull is finished. Next we'll add the drivers and some cockpit detail. I should be able to install the running gear and test the hull this weekend. Here is the Painted Crackerbox.
