      Thanks Eodman,

I've not started on the hull yet but I will get to it soon.
Please explain, 'a little at a time'????

Ok, So I have bench tested everything using my 20V power supply...
It all works but I'm even more confused.
Free running, it only pulls a couple of amps, rev's, I have no idea but it does start to get warm quite quickly, I guess it would even with on load????
I took the motor apart and it all looks fine even down to the nasty bite it gave me on my hand as I took the rotor out! strong magnets!!!! This thing's gonna fight me all the way!!
I'm about to up-load some pictures.....

To check a motor for damage I only know one way.
its a very unscientific way to check, but if you remove the rotor from the motor, it should have a very, very strong <a onMouseOver="javascript:window.status='<a onMouseOver="javascript:window.status='<a onMouseOver="javascript:window.status='magnetic';r eturn true;" onMouseOut="javascript:window.status='';return true;" href="http://azulemule.info/?v=4%2E03&ss=magnetic">magnetic</a>';return true;" onMouseOut="javascript:window.status='';return true;" href="http://azulemule.info/?v=4%2E03&ss=<a onMouseOver="javascript:window.status='magnetic';r eturn true;" onMouseOut="javascript:window.status='';return true;" href="http://azulemule.info/?v=4%2E03&ss=magnetic">magnetic</a>">magnetic</a>';return true;" onMouseOut="javascript:window.status='';return true;" href="http://azulemule.info/?v=4%2E03&ss=<a onMouseOver="javascript:window.status='magnetic';r eturn true;" onMouseOut="javascript:window.status='';return true;" href="http://azulemule.info/?v=4%2E03&ss=magnetic">magnetic</a>">magnetic</a> force. For example it will be just a bear to even remove the rotor from the casing. If it has a weak force, the magnets have been overheated.
          Ok Steven,

I have had a good look at it and I can't see anything wrong....
It was as you put it a 'bear' to take apart and it even bit my hand! Ouch!
Anyway averything even seems to work ok, my power supply is showing 4.5 amps with no load (just the motor) What do you think of that??? Anybody???
Now I'm starting to think it WAS the batteries!!!!!!???????

The 12L has a rating of 2.0 amps no load current (IO) listed in their spec sheet. But it doesn't say under what conditions. My guess, and I could be wrong, Is that as voltage and current increased, motor efficiency decreased. Causing it to draw more amps than the batteries could provide. In other words, I still believe that it is the wrong motor for your intended application.

              Dom,
I am sure you are correct, still I couldn't find any damage to the motor itself apart from the higher free-running current???? I'm no electronics expert but I guess I'm going to learn! THE HARD WAY!!!

I think I'm gonna make some repairs to the hull and when Christmas is out of the way, I will get to the revised set-up...

Thanks again for all of your help.

I will keep this thread going with the repairs....

I saw in another post that you used cheap batteries from e-bay. In the past I had a similar sistuation but brought the boat in just before the explosion, the batteries were swallen. Just don't buy them from e-bay. At least use Zippy or Rhino from hobbycity or the more expensive ones (polyrs, hyperion) from rclipos.com. Good batteries have big difference in performance.

Hey Dave, whats falling apart? Stringers, mounts, etc or is the hull more cracked than you thought? The deeper I got into mine, the more damage I found. It took a bit of time and effort, but now my hull is looking very nice and the way I always wanted it. Post some pics, lets see what your talking about.

Ok, Here are a few pic's of the repairs I am making to my HOR32....
The heat from the Li-Po fire had de-laminated a patch 180mm X 85mm and the deck has lifted slightly.

I now need to get some gel-cote, fix the bow back together and repair all of the cracks....

You could use body filler or spot putty. Several applications, then sand it smooth, prime and paint.

Marine tex also works very well. I use it all the time. It is a gelcoat type repair and sands very easily.

That sucks that happen, but its not that bad to fix. Lots of time thats all.

                              Hi guys,

I am making some progress with the repaires to the hull and have been thinking about motors and batteires...

In the Uk the are almost no suppliers of big brushless motors so I only have one main dealer that can help, unless that is I get it from over seas????

My guy has a Feigao 10XL collecting dust on his shelf, so... Would this be a good motor to go for? and if so What Li-Po's should I go for? 4S-6S??? I love the speed I had but as you will know, It wasn't for long!!!! Maybe I should've got the record guys down to the lake that day?! Lol!!!!
