    Help with my HOR32 needed...

    Hi guys,

I am new to FE and after my second run on Li-Po's, my HOR32 has suffered a fire.

Last week was it's first trip out with the Li-Po's and I had a grin as wide as the Atlantic! She was flying!!! Over 60Mph I'm sure!!!

This week, I took it out with a GPS and not only was it so slow, but after about 2 minutes there was a thump sound, the bow between the sponsons split open and smoke was bellowing out, she was on fire!!!!!

So, If anybody can help, please do leave a note?

    Many thanks....

Do you have pics of the damage? Perhaps you can repair it.

The 12L is a 4s motor. On 6s it probably over heated the motor or over amped the esc's.

From a post on the 'Head of the River Cat' thread, it was a battery that ignited. So I guess you over amped the batteries. What was the C rating on them & what brand.
                Cheers.

Sorry about the burned up model! Like Steven said, the 12L should never be used with 6S in direct drive. It clearly over-amped the ESC and likely damaged the cells as well in the previous run. That would explain why it seemed slow on the final voyage - either the ESC or the packs or both were previously damaged. We'll need to know what actually burned up to help much more. Pics would be good.

I did ballance charge them and the C rating is or was 15... this should make them out to be 75 amp batteries, I don't think I would be drawing more than 60 amps??? Correct me if I am wrong though......

I have taken a load of pictures but they are too big to put on here, I will take more tomorrow at a lower resolution and see if that works....

What do you want in the pictures?

Damaged parts for sure. Hull damage. Backend of the boat. Side view of the hull, particularly the strut and rudder. Inside pics with the battery placement.

If you are using Windows XP you can open up MSPaint. On the menu, select "Image" then from the drop down menu select "Attributes" Then change it to 800 and 600. Then save the image to whatever name you want as a .jpg.
