Ultra micro Inexpensive riggers

I have an idea.

I want to make a pair of dinky little riggers for me and my close friend so we can race with each other.

The tub/sponsons would probably be made out of the Dow 25psi XPS foam (blue insulation foam) covered with a layer of light glass.

Basically like a Renegade, except even smaller. Think high speed pool racing.

I am asking if this motor:

Is a rigger with a length of around 10" with a straight shaft even feasible?

Im not trying to argue that the renegade isn't good enough; it's a wonderful boat.

I just like building things myself, and I believe I can do that for cheaper than purchasing a kit.

I am also looking for something a bit smaller...

I'm mainly just wondering about the power system, I have all the construction techniques down pat.

I am also trying to have the boat as light as possible to allow for the smallest (and cheapest) power system components.

John, I like the idea of a small rigger under 15"
The prop you pointed to looks fine, I have not yet used any outrunners but have done a lot of reading on the subject. It looks a little small at 14A.
I would like to know what is considered the bare minimum or too small for a renegade and go from there.

That motor is just a tad smaller than the motors used for the renegades, and it can benefit greatly from a rewind. Being a cheap chinese motor, the winging isn't all that... perfect.

The props do look nice though.

I'd rather use a prop that my be a bit large compared to the scale of the boat that is from a reputable brand, rather than some mis-shapen off brand prop (look at all the little ones on tower hobbies, you'll see what I mean) that might fit the dimension requirements but severely lacks in efficiency...

I have all the materials needed to construct the hull. No problem.

Thing is, i'm a little short on money for electronics/ drive hardware. Need to go mow more lawns.. So don't expect any completed boats in the near future.

But if they do actually turn out as fast as i'm hoping they'll be, I have quite a few ponds nearby and a lake to boot.
