A good captain goes down with his ship but bugger that. I do have a PFD (might even have an STD after last night) and I can swim but not like I used to. Mate I have trimmed 22 kg's off this hulk of mine over the last year and losing it at about 1/2 kg a week at the moment. I walked 2.6 kilometers today without a stop. Before the diet 50 meters was the usual distance I could walk before stopping and waiting for the pain in my heart to go. Using a lot less Anginine tablets and my pain killers for my knees has gone down from 7 a day to 3 a day. Me and the orange canoe will go a lot faster and further if I lose another 20 kg's.
Enjoyed the video of the rigger using the Entropy batteries.

Seriously it was a real pleasure to sit back and do 6 laps of the lake and barely hear the motor. I ordered a deep cycle battery for it today and I am thinking of moving the electrics to a more convenient place.
Top speed was 3.5 kph on the high setting and 2.5 kph on the low setting. The motor has only 18 pounds of thrust so with a bigger motor the speed would go up by quite a bit but run time would come down also. I guess we all know the speed versus run time issue. I do think in the future a bigger motor might find it's way onto the side of this little boat.
Are you serious??? my inflateable boat has a minn kotta 88pd thrust on two retired kiwi mobility scooters... On 24volt it cruises at 6kph, i also used the missus hair drier to get some more pitch..lol

I was using the wife's hair dryer to inflate my blow up doll but the damn thing started to lift me off the ground with all that hot air in it.

An update on my new Xzess 2 hull but first a recap on how the boat is stacking up against the old hull...

                Old hull
                Xzess 2 hull, Neu 1515 0.5 Y, 2s lipo, Andym special X642 prop, Hydra 240 lv = 91.3 kph or 56.73 mph

                New hull
                Xzess 2 hull, Neu 1515 0.5 Y, 2s lipo, Andym special X642 prop, Hydra 240 lv = 94.7 kph or 58.84 mph

                Whats new
I have improved the speed a little by using an M545 prop...
                Xzess 2 hull, Neu 1515 0.5 Y, 2s lipo, Andym special M545 prop, Hydra 240 lv = 95.6 kph or 59.4 mph

Andy has suggested making some narrow ride pads for the sponsons and as I have a spare set of sponsons on the old hull I will experiment with those. I have ideas of narrowing the overall width of the sponsons sometime in the future too so breaking the 60 mph barrier on 2s is no longer a pipe dream for me. Props should give me more speed yet too. AOA is another thing I can experiment with too as this boat no longer has a blow over problem.
While on the subject of speed on a 2s lipo I must say how pleased I was to see Brian Buaas break 100 mph. That is an incredible speed on such a small battery and shows me how much I have to learn yet.

                      On 3s this morning

The old hull did 121 kph on 3s but on a different day and different conditions this hull could top that.
Imagine what it would do if I was using good batteries!!! I mean everyone says Turnigy batteries are rubish

Hopefully this is going to give me more speed or I will have ruined a perfectly abused set of sponsons...
