Sorry to change the subject from Douggies relations to fire fighting but I told you I would post some videos of yesterdays events for you Andy.
First the story.
On Tuesday evening I got a call from my sister asking me to come and help them through the night as a forest fire was approaching her 2 houses. Her and her son had spent a sleepless night the night before worrying about the fire that was heading their way. We talked our way through the night but kept a good eye on the fire.
The next morning the wind was blowing the fire past her house and 3 helicopters were dropping water to try to stop it's advance into areas that could affect life and property. In the afternoon the wind changed and the fire jumped a containment line that bulldozers had put in and started to come quickly towards her house. Her son is a quadriplegic and so he was loaded into her car and she drove him to a safe place. The rest of his friends and I left soon after. I went in a different direction and one that would leave me in a safe position but not far from the houses. From there I could call her cell phone and let her know of what I could see.
A fireman came out of there about 25 minutes later and came up to me and told me the main house had been saved. He said the fireball came over the roof of the green shed you will see in the videos and went over the roof of the house and down on the ground in front of the house as if my magic. The firemen were between the shed and the house at the time and he said it was like being trapped inside the fireball with no where to go. The 3 choppers had pounded the two houses with water while all this was taking place. Those guys are good. They can drop so much water and not damage anything on the house.
I was told about 5 minutes later that house number two was also saved.
What can I say but thanks to the brave fire fighters and those 3 chopper pilots.
I will group the video links into three groups.
1. The lead up to the main event
2. The main event
3. After the fire

Paddy, great to here the house was OK. I was not aware of your plight. MY jest was meant to state they sure can puy out fires but are useless in starting a barby It was probably in bad taste.
