Been collecting stuff for the 51" shovel, have most of the major components. What do you guys think of this rudder/strut system. I like the scale looks and adjustability.

assuming you're following Paddy's lead and evolving from water.. why would your 51" steam shovel need a rudder ?
The pictured one is nice work, be nice on a waterborne craft...

Doc if I can get a steam shovel to plane out, I should be able to run just about anything on the water.

Dont know about steam shovels, but steam hydros do the trick for me.
SASME ( South Australian Steam Model Engineers) in Adelaide have a spot they run these beasties.
As a little lad of ~5->9 I was hooked.. my old man went there for the scale steam trains, me the boats.

I am not working until midnight tonight. The box and the gps are on the table. GPS is bubble wrapped. Address has been printed. Has to be taped and taken to the PO and it will be on its way. Will overnight it and that means you should receive it no later than 5 days after I post it

BTW I got to go flying and out with the RC car this morning. I have all my lovely boats sitting there and no time to use them. I hope Roger's leg gets better soon. I miss the splashing of the boats as they cartwheel down the lake

Man how I would love a shovel that big. There used to be about 3 of them race here when I was a boy. Full size ones I am talking about and they had 4, 6 and 8 cylinder motors. Even the little 4 cylinder one reached about 75 mph on the flatter water.
Love the rudder/strut setup Chuck. All nice gear you have got together there. Don't forget the video camera when the boat meets the water for the first time.

Looks to be a wet blustery few days.

                    Stay well.

Thanks Paddy ... I think you will be quite surprised by the final look of the boat (if things go as planned).

Sorry Doc. It is probably time I found an RC Car forum to post my car stuff. I have deleted several of my car posts and will deal with the rest when I get time

While you're down there, my shoe needs a clean

You're the best Tasmanian RC FE boat fellow these forums has seen. in my books, Paddy.
The odds are still good for a barrier rail start with rc boats a plenty sprinting in straight lines across the lakes..

Im glad you gained some steering experience with these toy jalopys..
Time to get yourself back to the drink
and hopefully this will encourage Douggie ( the absent ), back to our pages

                              regards
