I am in no way saying that Clinton was right to do what he did. The fact that he lied under oath was the thing he did that I have problems with. How many people were watching is irrelevant.
But really, going after him in the first place was OK with you? Why not then go after EVERY public official who had an illicit affair. But that is not been done.
So in your mind if he had just come clean (sorry, couldn't resist that one) before the whole legal BS got started that this would have ended it for you?? You think the GOP would have let it drop??
The real point is how asinine it was to spends millions of dollars going after him in the first about a BJ. I often wonder if he had not been so distracted by the GOP witch hunts over Whitewater, etc., etc., if maybe he could have been more effective at snagging Bin Laden.
But recall, it was the GOP who raised a stink about going after Bin Laden because they saw it as a ruse designed to distract the nation from the important business of seeing if a man lied about a BJ. How ironic that turns out to be.
And as I keep saying his lie clearly outweighs Bush and his administration lying about the WMDs, lying about Valerie Plame, lying about torture, lying about illegal wire tapping, and lying about rendition, just to name a few of the big ones. All well and good. Just THANK GOD he did not lie about getting a BJ. THAT would have been terrible.
The really sad thing is that in the minds of many on the right that is EXACTLY what they think. And anyone who dares to raise the questions will have their patriotism questioned or be written off as left wing nut job.
Again, the hypocrisy. We spent millions trying to nab Clinton in a lie, but we cannot even ask if Bush lied without being labeled or questioned.
Keep in mind too that the day Clinton was impeached and the day he left office his approval rating was much higher than Bush's has been for some time. But still, here we are talking about Clinton.
