Here's my take, and here's why your statement is ignorant. As many of you may know I'm black, my father was black and my mother was half white and half black. My grandmother is very fair skin. So I have "white", slovakian, italian, german, indian and of course black in me. If you would look at a picture of me, I think you would find that it is very VERY hard for me to call myself white. So I select black on all my forms does that make me a black racist and am I dening my other roots? Here's the truth if I run around calling myself white and selecting white on all my forms chances are I'm going to run into a serious issue because people don't see me as a "white" . Is that my fault? I'm a mutt just like everyone else is!
* My wife is white and I'm black, needless to say we've experienced racism from both sides. Doesn't matter that I treat her like a queen and place her on a pedstal, some folks would much rather her be with a white man, even if he treated her like crap and that's pretty damn sad! This whole hoodie thing is out of freaking control and Geraldo is a dumb ass for his comments, here's the kicker, I'm 6'7 300lbs and black, my wife is 5'7 130lbs and white, she wears hoodies constantly (fresh out the shower, gotta leave for work she puts on a hoodie to cover her wet hair up before going outside and things like that) and that's fine but God forbid I wear one and I'm thug or up to know good...
Wasn't there a saying from the KKK when the movie "Boyz in the hood" came out saying that they where the "orignal boys in the hood"... So if your white your a Klan member, if you black or latino your a thug!
On a side note being called "African American" really pisses me off! I don't go around calling people Irish-american or German-american... If you want to call me anything call me AMERICAN!
Seriously, give me break. Just because you don't like it, doesn't make it wrong and no one deserves to be stereotyped.

Guys... this thread should NOT be about color, or hoodies even, for that matter... but rather about the exploitation of the events and emotions generated by them for political gain. It lessons the tragedy, regardless of where blame is ultimately placed.
I teach my kids live their lives, and try to live my life, not seeing things as insignificant as skin color, race, etc... Our society was suppose to be beyond that crap.
Yet, here we are, being dragged back into it, in very typical "Alinsky-ite" style ("Rules for Radicals"... go read up, you'll be shocked at just how much you are being USED by the Government so THEY can gain more and more power)....
I just think the timing of the offering of the "Obama 2012 Hoodie" was suspect, and rather exploitative. A man is dead, and another has had his life altered forever. Perhaps we could try to keep our eye on the ball and NOT let the Media, or radicals, lead us by the nose to distract us and gain more power???Darin E. Jordan - Renton, WA

Racism makes me sick. I love RC Boats but have experienced way to much ignorance in our little universe. Politics aside. A boy is Dead. Shot by an untrained Neighborhood watch guard. It's a shame that in 2012 we still deal with street violence and racism of the worst kind. Next time you are at a boat race and see participant of African descent pay attention to how they are treated. In my experience they are treated poorly. Sad...I love this hobby but it is getting more difficult to just have fun without encountering hate and ignorance.

Guys... I'm not sure how much clearer I can attempt to say it, but let me try again... It's NOT about the clothing... My son has a hooded sweatshirt... so does my daughter... and my wife, and I used to have them... BIG DEAL!
This is about the TIMING, and the obvious exploitation of a bad situation... or at least the questioning of that timing and judgement.
If you KNOW something is going to inflame an already tense situation, what kind of judgement is being used when you go forth with it anyhow?? That's the "giving the benefit of the doubt" side...
On the other hand, if you see a situation and go forth with this to EXPLOIT it... well....
I'm NOT a racist... and I don't treat anyone as if I were... I am CAREFUL, however... which is something that bothers me as well because it means I'm having to do something DIFFERENT around my black friends that I would with other friends.

Darin we may never know the intentions of the Obama hoodie, the left will say onething the right will say something different and this is my biggest issues with politics and why I hate election years. All on the TV you'll see negative messages towards a candidate and parties spend millions upon millions digging up and putting out all the dirt these people have done who the hell is that helping? Wouldn't it be crazy if they actually put those millions of dollars to say education programs, or say health care programs or lets even say the national deficit
. Don't tell me how you "plan" on fixing these issues. A plan would be lets not spend millions to find out the John Doe on the right cheated on his high school test WHO CARES that and helping no one now. Put that money to good use. Both parties are just as guilty, quit making laws and rules that benefit only your party and start caring about the people! Sorry for that rant... poli-dicks makes me

Agreed... That was a good part of my point with this... Did anyone else catch the latest NBC "Today" show editing of the 911 call?? Darin, I commend you for clearing up your message. There are some racially challenged people on these boards from what I'm reading.
I truly feel sorry for them because life is beautiful when one's mind is not racially confined. You're teaching your kids some priceless things they will benefit from.
Many of those who are racially challenged mentally were raised that way. You've made the descision to break that cycle as my parents did an my life is enriched therefore..
