Duuuude, you gotta quit reading the Enquirer while in the checkout line. I've found Obama to be articulate, intelligent, diplomatic and could be a good leader if we would just get our sh*t together and work for the betterment of all Americans. At least he's not an ar**gant idi*t as*hole like the last one we had. IMO. There has been more money spent because of wars started by previous administrations and wars are pricey - and the profit goes to the elite few but we all pay for it. Like outsourcing American jobs for more profit - capitalism at it's dirty best. He/we've spent more because we are growing and future expenditures will always continue to increase. That's just the way it is. That's change, that's the future, the way it will be. Get used to it, be part of the solution, not part of the headache. Buy up some oil shares and pay yourself when you go to the pumps. Just quit whining about it and perpetuating bad information. It does nobody any good, including yourself. IMHO.

From outside looking in..the American dream of cheap living and extravagant lifestyles has turned ugly.
Down here in Au we've always had higher fuels costs, loan interest 7-10%.. high personal taxes.. Im in the 58% bracket.. ,
Yet our mean average wage is ~800AU ( 865US).. we've functional medicare for all.. welfare for old, sick, unemployed.. our roads are federally funded.. and when your GFC struck.. we paid ourselves a nice dividend from Govt stockpiles to help our commerce along...

How in heck could dumb Aussies outstrip your wealth, income, job security, life status, export, tourism ?
We got off our arses and made an effort to ensure our futures, that's how....
I assure you it's not rocket science.. any 'moron' could arrange it... so long the people listen.

High gas prices do suck. You should all buy motorcycles. 50+ mpg, F1 performance.

Maybe in texas, but in northern Mi, my bike was mostly useless.
If people are broke because of gas price, they're doing something dramatically wrong financially. People don't want to accept that living beyond their means by way of credit is a terrible idea at best. Manage your spending habits properly, and gas should be the least of you're problems.
If you can't afford gas, you certainly shouldn't be playing with R/C boats.

yea, I imagine we get a little more ride time down here than you do.
I see people drop anywhere from 2-15k on bikes to save on gas $ every time the gas prices spike. That would buy a lot of gas.
I also see guys use it for an excuse to the old lady which I'm all for.

Great idea. Did your media embark on a pattern of lies and deception? Did it divide the people with non realistic ideologies? Did people argue and bicker over trivialities or did they look toward a common future for all? It is tough times we are in. We should be bonding together and gain strength from that unity. Believe it or not, that is what made America so great in the first place.

Our government at that time was liberal, unliked as taxation rose and services lowered...yet their economic strategies guided us through the global turmoil.
Many trimmed from the govt teat were end of life careers.. so no real services lost...despite union cries of deeds foul.
Our latest bunch of political oxygen thieves prefer to fight amongst themselves than care for the nation, and we await a final solution around next election.

Our Media coverage follows the political leaning of their owners.. down here we have media mogul Murdoch ( of UK phone tap fame ) or Packer ( Au 'rich kid' ).. and a wise man ignores both their opinionated franchises .
Media here did a good job of highlighting foreign banks and corporations failing due over capitalisation with credit... of homeowners facing forfeiture due loan defaults.. and our 'harsh' lending schedules here pointed at as our saviour...

US indeed is still a super power of economics.. still controls world monetary markets.. however not with her own pocket money.
