For me, a lot of music I like was before my time. But I also like classic rock and some of the newer stuff..

      and the old stuff...

There's just a lot more of the older stuff that I find more appealing. And in this thread I found even more.

Holy smokes Dom, you gettin' inside my head ? I was just about to post The Andrews sister "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy" One of my all time favorites (and I do have a crush on the Patti Andrews of her time).

From that same era - some MUSICIANSHIP that's just mindblowing (tune out if you're under 60)

I played trumpet in a 26 piece swing band in the 50's. After hearing Hary James, I put down the trimpet & took up French Horn

I just checked, it was Janis.
Seems you know me too well, that, and I have telegraphed my punches, silly me. You forgot to mention another seventeen, come now, you know the one I mean,-- in sixty three. Anyway, a year later, at eighteen, and non the wiser, I might not have known art, but I knew what I liked. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ME27Mntt3Ro

When it comes to *MY* preferences to music, I want, 1; lyrics: clean clear concise, tell me a story. and/or 2; sheer musical talent, and/or 3 FUN!; is it possible to have a song without intricate lyrics, or orchestration? YES, many an example of this.

INDEED! and the last song you posted made me want to kill myself, kill someone else, or in mixed company, be killed by someone. Also, the song began peeling my wall paper, and was scaring children, and other living things, (BTW,you owe me a Boston fern).
Your previous post was Def Leppard, OK, this comes under my "FUN" category. A band nearly devoid of talent, but, hey, who gets tired of pouring sugar, over, and over, and over again. Then again, I'm out of cream, and those peaches are getting a bit too ripe.
Reminds me of another band, Bachman Turner Overdrive, when they lost their writer, they were a mere shell of a band, but do we really want to roll down that highway, AGAIN???
Setting aside lyrics, can the artist rip out his heart, and soul, and make it travel through his fingers to his instrument and make his audience feel it?, get it? I am sorry that I cannot really explain what *IT* is, perhaps it cannot be explained. Look at the faces in this audience, I'm thinking yeah, they got it, AND they get it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FiuQ1...eature=related
