Another thing to consider... I like you, love all kinds of music (except country) and grew up listening to 60s/70s rock. You're comparing that music with popular music. That would be like comparing 60s and 70s rock with the crap they played on popular AM radio back then... yuck!

Growing up, I think the radio stations I listened to were of the "album-oriented rock" genre or some similar term, not pop.

Most of the young people I know that are musicians or are serious music listeners find plenty of great new music to listen to other than the mainstream crap.

Remember, very nearly 50% of the population has below-average intelligence.... "popular" does not equal "quality." ;-)

      Take it easy,

You are correct in the term popular, that was my mistake and yes there are some very talented musicians of this era. I have quite a few of their renditions. As you suggest, I was aiming an arrow at the mainstream crap.

He was something to see live, I remember before he made it big in the 80's there was a blues player from my town kept talking about this blind guy he was going to Toronto to play guitar with and how he played in his lap. Yep it was a young Jeff Healey!
Rick Fines From Jackson Delta is the guitar player I'm talking about.

I still jam with this guy on occasion, he taught me a lot about playin' the blues.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

It's funny how some music is timeless. My 8 yr. old niece loves Lou Rawls. I think another part of the equation is the equipment we listen to our music from. No matter what genre or era your favorites are from, If you have poor equipment it won't be as "involving" as it can or should be.

Very intersting videos and choices of music....I will voice this for the last time. I have had enough of dancing boys and girls along with a very mediocre singer and if lucky a composer of their music. I think it is time for people to visit the garage and do their thing.

I see both music and movies have followed the same growth pattern..
From brilliant writing, outstanding performances and quality talent ... to repetitive themes, digitized lights and CGI , with gymnasium choreography by ppl who'd starve if busking for coin.

                                if that truth offends anyone.

A teenager in the 70's .. the late night countdown at Vol#10 from passing cars is an experience I remember well
