I'd like to hear what kind of joke the current crop of pop tarts would come up with if they had to write and perform their own music!
Oh well a hot body trumps any kind of talent today. All you have to do is shake whatever you've got and pretend you're singing! It truly is entertainment not music anymore. SO many performers from back in the day never would have made it today simply because the don't look good enough in print or video. Could you imagine Mama Cas trying to make it today? Or Janis Joplin? Talent is no longer a concern.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Has anyone ever heard a bandoneon (type of accordion)? Very unique sound.

The artist wife is playing in this video.

Doc, your coments are very valid and I watched Citizen Kane again after 5 years on a dvd...a brilliant film...black and white and no crappy film effects.

I watched "Breakfast at Tiffany's" a couple weeks ago.
My daughter(23) was unimpressed dad wanted to watch a film made 50 years ago...
The storyline, acting, alcohol , partying... had her wide eyed and mesmerized.

She has seen it 4? times since, with an increasing qty of friends around to share.
Some classics are just unbeatable for quality and style.

I'm going to see Def Leppard this Thurdsay night and I can't wait! It's funny because one of the younger guys I work with (25) is also going and he's keen for it! Quite surprising considering their popularity was quite a while ago now.

Of the current crop, about the only music I will pay for is Linkin Park, Lifehouse and Powderfinger. Linking Park verges on Rap and highly produced, but they amaze me how they can replicate their music live. Lifehouse and Powderfinger are just decent honest rock, shame Powderfinger recently called it quits.

I don't even bother looking at our Top 50 chart these days....

I can listen to, and enjoy almost any genre of music, just as long as there is some real talent, and writing involved. Record companies, promoters, and radio stations all control the music you hear in the main stream. In the old days, I would spend hours shifting through LP's at the bargain store, or listening to *underground* radio stations. Now days with the internet, searching is a bit easier. As an example, some bands, or artists morph so by following them you never know what might turn up. I was a fan of Fleetwood Mac, and was always wondering what ever became of their second guitarist, Bob Welch who wrote a lot of good stuff. Let's take a little drive, and see if we can find him;--- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dS-J2fQJLU8

Here is a wee classic...the man was a priest and wrote some wonderful music....Vivaldi

and another beauty and by the way I am not a religous follower, I just like great music .This rendition is suberb unlike the overblown Mormon Tabernacle Choir renditions...listen to the boys voices.

And from the other side of the world....The Who and one great artist on the drums

Just played another show with these guys last night, thing we've played with them 4 or 5 times over the last few years.

This girl went on before us, she was in my class in high school.
Of course we were pounding out the stompin' tunes again.

This is a bad video of us outdoors, lots of wind noise.

One without our bass player. Outdoors again.
                            Plain old simple pub music.
