    At home I have to dial long distance to get dial-up. Connect speeds are typically 1200 to 14400, but I have gotten 300 bps (!!!!!) a few times. Using Filezilla I usually see transfers around 2.3K. That's 2400 baud. I wouldn't have believed it unless I saw it on my own machine.

    I have been watching the connecting IP's and have found that certain addresses (server side) are always very slow while others tend to be faster. If I get a slow IP address, I disconnect and try again.
