I think the last time I voted FOR a candidate, it was Ronald Reagan in 1980. Since then, I have only been able to vote AGAINST a candidate.

Joe sounds like somebody I could vote FOR.

    Bill,

Your guy will most likely win. The media is doing it's best to make that a reality. They make "Tass" and "Pravda" look fair and balanced in comparison. The only satisfaction I will get will be four years later when I get to say "See, I told you so."

Fortunately, my job involves projects that take decades to design an build, so short-term financial ups and downs don't impact me as much as when I was in the residential market. I just hope I can hang in there for the next four years. I just wonder what your guy will do to the Supreme Court and the lasting impact that will have on this country. Remember, the majority of the "hot bed" issues affecting this country (abortion, affirmative action, gay marriage, illegal alien's rights, and the like) have been forced down our throats by the courts, not a referrendum of the people.

Replublicrats and Demicans, they're all the same now. When was the last time your representative did something on YOUR behalf as opposed to a lobbyist's position? I think we have had taxation without representation since the time Kennedy (a tax-cutting President) was assinated. The people are too disorganized and complacent to rise up against an ever-growing, all-powerful, oppressive government. And those on the Left think giving the government MORE power is "change" for the good.

Welcome to the USSA. We're all going to get screwed no matter what the outcome. Our only choice is whether we get kissed or slapped in the process.

Stop it Ghost!! Facts are NOT what we want to hear. Sean and Rush and Savage all say this is terrible and Obama is a bad man. It MUST be true.

BTW - want to hear something ironic? Here in SOCAL they arrested a guy who owns a similar company that pays people to get registration cards. He was arrested for FRAUD because he was fraudulently getting people to register as Republicans by making them think they were signing a petition against child molestation. He fraudulently registered himself using an invalid address so he could operate in California too.

Funny, I have not heard a peep out of Rush or Sean about this. Imagine the hysteria they would exhibit if everything was the same EXCEPT the party he was fraudulently signing people up for.

And you all are all upset that Obama served on a non-profit board with Ayers but apparently seem to care less that Palin's hubby was a member of the Alaska succesionist party and even spoke to their convention as Governor and praised their work. Nope, it's all good, they're with the GOP so no worries.

Now imagine that Michelle Obama did the same thing and compare the difference in response.
      Don't get me started

What did Bidon just say??? "If it walks like a duck, and talks like a duck...".... WAY too many "associations" for them not to spell out a pattern... You have to have been spiking your kool-aide to just ignore this stuff and "believe" what the rest of the media is telling you that you should ignore...

Was he a NATIONAL organization, receiving TAXPAY $$$ to do what he was doing??? 20-MILLION DOLLARS was in the first "bailout" package for ACORN... THREE pages of bull... er... I mean bill, with the economy on the brink of collapse (supposedly), and they (the DEMOCRATIC AUTHORS) took the time to pad the pockets of ACORN!??? REALLY???

One rouge guy out there is not suprising... I'm sure there are more... But it hardly is worthy of comparison to the HUGE organization that is ACORN...

And I think we've all been guilty of supporting things that we later find out more info about and can no longer support... (Length Limits??? NiMH vs Lipos??? ) The basic premise that the "media" portrays of the mission for ACORN is one that I think we can all support... But what they actually are doing in practice, and their deeper charter of what they are working to accomplish, is quite a bit different, and less agreeable than what the "media" puts forth... McCain standing with them in 2006 does NOT translate into McCain agreeing with them in 2008... He's spoken out against them... Has Obama??

Um, some of us still support secession. I wouldn't mind seeing NJ split into 3 states (it really is already in practice but only 1 section's votes count - the Dem's section of course), and I know that a lot of Northern California would LOVE to eliminate the Southern portion of the state. Secession of counties is really not that much different from secession of states (BTW, Alaska has no counties).

According to the Constitution of the United States, unless a right is explicitly granted to the Congress, that right remains with the individual states. There was no clause in the Constitution giving the Congress the right to declare war on states exercising their reserved right to secede.

But remember, it was the Democrats who seceded. It's really not a Republican/Democrat issue, sorry dude.

Texas is the only state whose Constitution was accepted by the Congress with the explicit right to secede. Since the US Constitution has nothing to say about it to the contrary, all states have the implied right.

              I feel so much safer.

Bottom line. I had friends who died in 9/11, my brother was in the building across the street and could have been killed and GW BS'd us about how he was "Gonna Git him, Dead or Alive". And yet bin Laden is still alive a free to work his terror against us. So the tough guy approach appears not to have been too successful in my view of things.

BTW - I have a brother in Iraq now, so everyone can spare me the "support the troops" BS. You can support the troops and not the mission and still be a patriot. And as a veteran I am always amused when those who never served question that.

For those of you who keep questioning Palin's "experience" and credentials... Here a little something you won't read, at least not outside of the out-of-context BS that CNN pulled from it yesterday, on most "media" outlets. If you want to know some of what she has accomplished, in detail, this is a good article to read:

That's somewhat of a loaded question... but I would do exactly what I'm doing now... I'd look at their history and track records and then compare that to what they are saying and make a judgement from there...

I'm thinking we need a big change as well, but I have my opinions on what that change needs to look like, and making this a Socialist country is not the change I'm looking for.

I think we need to get back to some basics and become a powerful nation again... not just another in the fold. Our public schools are a perfect example of what happens when you work to the lowest common denominator... you get a group of averages and very few "over-achievers"... Our math and science and reading test scores prove it...

I'm willing to work much harder than that to be MUCH better than that...

Think about a handicapping system in boat racing... Let's use the upcoming All-Star shootout as an example.... If someone practices and practices and practices... learns their boat... figures out what it needs... really works to learn how to drive it... Should we add lead to his boat to slow it down so someone who perhaps just showed up can compete??

Sorry, but that's just not how I think things should work. You want to beat me... then work harder than me... have more talent than me... practice more than me... I'm willing to give you advice (the "hand up"), but I'm not going to take away from my own program to just allow you to win ("hand out")...

Sarah Palin, despite how the press is trying to destroy here, is a legitimate politician and has real accomplishments to her credit. You may not like how she speaks or her beliefs, but that doesn't mean she's not qualified. As I said before, you don't have to be a "polished" speaker to be qualified to be vice-President, or President for that matter. Well... perhaps that's good enough for some...

The bottom line is that at it's core, I don't subscribe to the direction the Democrats have shown they want to take this country. It's been proven not to work, it's been shown not to work, it doesn't make sense for business, it doesn't make sense for families, and it's not a sustainable plan... Capitalism, with an appropriate amount of controls and oversight, works...

And, quite frankly, I believe in God and Country and America, and I don't feel that many on the left share that love of country.

Sorry for the ramble... but you did ask...

So let me get this straight..... If one man feels that a group gives him a particular impression that you disagree with, his feelings are complete and utter hogwash, and that your feelings are the only ones with merit?

I'm not entirely certain which side is spewing the hogwash.

Actually, I consider the press' anti-Palin stand as a very high compliment. It tells me they don't like what she stands for, and since I like what a lot of the mainstream press stands against, she might be worth considering.

                                Share the Wealth...

                                Back on topic... More "Funny's"...

                                Just received this memo:

As of November 5, 2008, when President Obama is officially elected into office, our company will instill a few new policies which are in keeping with his new, inspiring issues of change and fairness:

                                1. All salespeople will be pooling their sales and bonuses into a common pool that will be divided equally between all of you. This will serve to give those of you who are underachieving a “fair shake.”

                                2. All low level workers will be pooling their wages, including overtime, into a common pool, dividing it equally amongst yourselves. This will help those who are “too busy for overtime” to reap the rewards from those who have more spare time and can work extra hours.

                                3. All top management will now be referred to as “the government.” We will not participate in this “pooling” experience because the law doesn't apply to us.

                                4. The “government” will give eloquent speeches to all employees every week, encouraging it's workers to continue to work hard “for the good of all.”

                                5. The employees will be thrilled with these new policies because it's “good to spread the wealth.” Those of you who have underachieved will finally get an opportunity; those of you who have worked hard and had success will feel more “patriotic.”

                                6. The last few people who were hired should clean out their desks. Don't feel bad, though, because President Obama will give you free healthcare, free handouts, free oil for heating your home, free foodstamps, and he'll let you stay in your home for as long as you want even if you can't pay your mortgage. If you appeal directly to our democratic congress, you might even get a free flatscreen TV and a coupon for free haircuts (shouldn't all Americans be entitled to nice looking hair?) !!!
