I picked up one of these a while back for a much lower price w/a coupon.

I haven't tried it yet so I can't tell you if it's a good deal or not.

Used to use those plastic welders with P-TEX sticks for doing base repair on downhill skiis.
The one we had at the shop would have melted thin plastic into a blob, the volume of air was just too much for very fine delicate work. Maybe with a much smaller tip and some kind of regulator for airflow it would have worked.
That was about 24 years ago though and that machine was far from new at that point. Worked awesome for what we used it for, no more carbon streaks in the base from the blowtorch method.
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?

Ive been using Devcon Plastic Weld for some time, this stuff is fantastic on most plastics inc abs & fibre glass as well as metal & wood. On fibre glass it sticks much better than all other epoxys ive used. But its not the easiest stuff to get a good finish on like other epoxys as its a bit stringy. For general building i still use other epoxys as well.

The plastic car you welded together then spun up the back wheels with the gun?
Yup! Had to rivet the body panels on! Back when toys were cool!
