    pair of large motors

building a big 47inch catamaran and looking for two large motors, had a buddy tell me to go with some AliExpress 4092 brushless motors but not sure if they will get this pig moving like I want. who's got what?

looking to stay electric, and not sure a pair of those would fit under the cowl.

just for a comparison a gas promod engine is equal to about 8,500w of electric. Twin 4092 engines running at max capacity is about 6000w. So you're going to need at very least twin TP 4070's, twin castle XLX2 ESC's, twin 6s packs. which weigh about 200% more than a gas engine and cost about 300% more. and you are still going to be slower because you're 4lbs heavier. and will have about 1/5th the runtime.

twin 4092's will get your lapping speeds around mid to high 50's
twin 4070's will get your lapping speeds around mid 60's
a promod 30 will get you around high 60's

another far better option for electric is a single 56mm motor and single HV esc ran on 12s. with very good batteries you could maybe see high 60's with that, be far lighter, far less expensive.

well, it's going to cost me more then as I am trying to not limit myself to where I can run it locally.

anywhere with a boat ramp you should be able to run any powerplant fyi. But being in MI there are plenty of boat clubs around you. That is the best thing you can do is go to those you get way more knowledge than you ever could on your own.

so, looking through the cad files I took a few measurements, cowl to bottom of hull in center is 4in at the highest. in the sponsons I have 75mm wide by 84mm tall. I am looking into few local groups, but this is more for my fun and challenge of building it. we have a lot of inland lakes without ramps by me and are no gas lakes some even with no motor rules so even electric isn't allowed.

well those arent viable lakes to RC boat in. you should disregard them or ignore the rules....which are made for passenger boats not rc toys.

Thats a well known Nigerian scam! NEVER reply to anyone that claims to "have a friend" that just so happens to have what you are asking for! They are the "friend" and the email is just to get you communicating outside of the forum. Its the same guys that do all the Nigerian Prince and romance scams on old ladies. They are not local nor hobbyist of any kind

How did they get your contact info to send you that message? That's the other dumb thing many do on forums. They simply google your user name and look to see if you have foolishly posted your phone number or email address anywhere on a public forum, and it takes 15 seconds. And for some reason no one seems to stop and ask themselves "How did the text/email me since I never gave them that info?"

They dont even need to create an account for this scam. Just sit and watch for any WTB ad on 100 different websites at once, and then Google search for their contact info that should never ever be posted publicly.

Why I blasted it on the post, clearly the rules say everything must be done on the thread and not in the pm, unless it?s secure information like your shipping addy.

I had someone try to get me for a tp100 and esc for $335 well sorry bud I reversed that as soon as he couldn?t produce any new pictures of it. Haven?t heard anything since lol won?t even reply to me.

Yes, the rules this forum has of insisting all be done public is actually the LAST thing anyone should be doing. That allows them to scam without even having an account with PM privileges.

The other way they use people's contact info is to see someone in a sale publicly post "I'll take it", then they Google again for their buyers contact info, then pretend to be the seller and send them their PP info beofre the real sellers has a chance to.

The buyer pays the scammer and then claims the real seller is a scammer because they never get the stuff, and the real seller claims the buyer is a scammer because he never paid them anything, all because people foolishly post their phone numbers and emails on public forums as if its the 1960s and everyone is a hobbyist like them and their friend.

There are massive Nigerian and Eastern European scam rings watching every forum on every subject 24/7 looking for someone to hand their personal info over, and you will never know they are there. This is their job and what they do all day because its so effective, and people never seem to learn

This websites rules are helping them do this, and need to be changed to reflect the current times we are in.

Not exactly sure about your references but a capable 45" hull like HPR06 or Mystic 114 will easily push 100mph with a twin 4070 setup on 6S each? I have hardly any experiences with gas engines and I'd agree to your claims about cost and runtime but a promod gas engine pushing 8.5kW and outperforming a twin FE setup with 4070's is not something I'd take serious to say politely.

maybe OP should elaborate more on which hull he wants to use and what speeds he wants to achieve
