What boat, and what are you looking for out of the boat? We race <450mm hydros in Naviga, if you want sensible 30-40mph speeds and several minutes of runtime (how we race) the little gold Turnigy rotorstar 2700KV outrunner on 3s punches well above its price bracket, and is probably the most efficient budget motor. If you want to go faster than low 40s you will need an inrunner and a water cooling jacket, and be prepared to run on flat water only or for rescues, as mini boats don't handle typical water at high speed as well as big boats do.

I have an ADS 28XL 3200Kv water cooled outrunner ran once and a 30A 2-3S ESC from an Atomik Barbwire XL.

I paid $40 shipped for the motor, the ESC is worth maybe $20. What if we barter for the Bud Select livery I PM'd you about for my Zonda mini?

This is a link to the motor on HK.com. I'll snap some pictures of the ESC when I get home.

What you think of this setup Paul?
Seams maybe the ESC is on the low side of things!?

While I don't know that particular Esc, I ran a Castle 30A Esc i watercooled myself for many years, and only upgraded as I wanted datalogging, a friend is still running it and it has now seen 12 years of service in mini hydros or cats running between 28 and 43mph.

That motor is not nearly as efficient as the cheaper rotorstar, but it has more ability to dissipate the extra heat it makes so it is probably about as capable, and as I guess you won't be racing it the efficiency won't matter too much.

I would say that setup will get a mini Keps up and boogying at a speed fast enough to make that size boat exciting, without having to worry about acrobatics too much except in the roughest conditions, an x430 would be a good prop to start it on, yielding MPH in the mid 30s with an amp draw in the low 20s, giving about 5 minutes runtime on a 2200 3s pack if built light and setup well.

Build it as lights you can.

                    Jeff,
Have AQ 2200Kv outrunner + 20amp water cooled esc from MiniMono purchased last month.

Tested [but no runs] both out of the box (on 3S) then replaced them.

                    Gotta Leo LC450-3200Kv + Seaking 35A (V2) speedo to run on 2S.

MM manual is here... http://manuals.hobbico.com/aqu/aqub1805-manual.pdf -- specs are on page 3.

Food for thought in case your interested.
