You can use any 540 size or smaller brushless motor with the Traxxas VXL 1/10 scale esc.Just remember not to use 3s on a motor that isn't rated to run on 3s
I have a VXL esc in a modified bandit running a 7700kv cc motor on 2s that has been running 70mph + for 4 years.
