    WTB: x642 Prop / x640 / x442 / x445 / Prather 220

    Looking for any of the following: X642 a x640, Prather 220 a x442 and for a decent price. Would like to get two of those but one is better than none to get me started, I'm on a tight budget and need something to get me by as the prop on my boat is too large so looking for someone who can help me out and I'm probably only going to be able to get one or two.

    Let me know what you have

    Thanks

        Thanks for the offer, but I have to pass. I'm not spending any more money on boat parts right now as we just found out we have a baby on the way.

        EDIT: Broke my x442 prop today so need another one. That prop worked great for me, but I Prefer to stay away from Aluminum as that is what I broke

            I have a really awesome x637-- thinned real nice-- probably would perform better than a standard x640. Not sure what you wanted to use it for, but it was pulling too many amps on my syncron with a neu 1515 2200KV & cc240A ESC... my packs and connectors were getting too hot.

              Thanks for the offer, but I need it for my outlaw which is a 40" hull...the props I am already looking for are too small for this hull so a 637 would be way to small lol..ran a prather 215 which is a 40mm prop and that was a hair too small, Ran a x442 which is about perfect as temps were much better and I was still getting 40mph out of it. These under sized props I am looking for keep things running cool on my underpowered setup and give me the speeds I want. The Prather 225 I have on it now is just a hair to large as temps get higher than I would like.

              I'm thinking the x640 is gonna be too small now too.

                Hi,
                Just FYI-- if your boat likes the x442 then the x637 won't be too small-- it could actually be too large, as the total pitch on the x637 is higher than x442

                x442 2.310"
                x637 2.368"

                Which prop will work better for your setup would be trial and error however-- in my case, the x442 with less pitch enabled my motor to reach full RPM and was actually faster... so it depends on your setup.

                I'm happy to sell it to you with a 2 week return policy so you can try it out-- if you don't like it you can sent it back to me (if undamaged) if you cover the return shipping cost.

                  so the 37 diameter isn't going to be too small? I just can't wrap my head around a 37mm prop pushing a 40" boat. I know a good prop for my Fastech is a x642 and that boat is only 26" so I figured if i got a 642 I could use it for both boats.

                  So the total pitch is the number I should be looking at then? If that's the case the prather 220 I just paid for has 43mm diamter and 2.6 total pitch. The stock prop is a 225 which is 46.7mm and 2.8 pitch.

                  How much were you looking to get for the prop?...I may wait and see how this 220 works out...and if it is too big I might be interested giving yours a shot..at least see if I can get 35mph out of it and low temps, that way I have a stable boat for some rough waters when out on the real boat, and use the larger prop for when I am on calm water and want speed.

                  Still learning this whole prop thing

                    It's really hard to say what prop will work best-- if the boat likes the x442, then you could try adding more pitch-- you can either add more diameter, or add more base pitch (1.6 vs. 1.4). If your boat runs well with x642 then I'd forget about the x637, but if it is running hot on x642 and running ok on x442, then x637 is kinda in between.

                    Total Pitch
                    X442= 2.310"
                    X637=2.368"
                    X445=2.478"
                    X640=2.512"
                    X642=2.640"

                    Regarding diameter, I personally like the smallest diameter prop that does not result in cavatation. The smaller props usually enable less torque roll and handles better in the turns. But if too small, then you'll cavatate too much.

                    If I were in your situation, I would think about this strategy:

                    1) Try x642 first. This is a popular prop size and you can resell it very easily. If runs cool, go up from there... if too hot, then
                    2) Try x445, which is another popular size that you can resell easily
                    -If runs cool and good handling, then you found your prop.
                    -If runs cool BUT if you see any chine walking or problems cornering in the turns, then
                    -Try x640 (more pitch but less diameter than x445)
                    -If runs too hot
                    Try x637. If cool, good speed, but too much cavitation then
                    -Try x442

                    Anyway, PM me if interested in x637 and we can work out the "loan" agreement so you can try it, but you probably have some other props to try first...

                      Look at BHChieftain's post - at $40 somethin each your looking at about $200 + -- heck of a lotta money for a prop

                      Just my 2-cents
                      This is why I sometimes offer to let someone try a prop and return it if it does not work out. I've had fellow OSE members make that offer to me and I have sure appreciated it while trying to find the best prop for my setup.

                        Thanks for the offer, but as i previous told Chief in a PM I ended up with a prop that worked out. The S/B prather 220 I picked up is working great for me so far. If something changes i will get in touch with both of you.
